Well, another great stay at Kindred Hospital SW. My second go around. Once again I would like to say thank you all for the care I've received. Kudos to wound care nurses Doreen and Janet. I appreciate Kindred for accommodating a bed for my wife since she stayed with me. The only negative thing is the parking for visitors not enough spaces.

This was my first time at Kindred Southwest. I was impressed with everything and everyone. They have a very impressive wound care team. Monica was on top of things along with her staff. Thank you Tracy and Laura my caseworkers for talking to my daughter and keeping her updated when I couldn't remember something. Lawanda is a fabulous nurse and Debra and Robin are some good techs. Thank you Dr. Sadie and God bless Kindred. SAllen

Kindred Southwest has been a part of my family for 10 years. My husband was a patient here that long ago and here I am a patient. I remember them taking excellent care of him and I have received the same wonderful care. There are two special ladies that I have bonded with Marci from therapy she was always available and several times when I just needed a good cry her shoulder was available and then Sandy she always had a smile and a great sense of humor. I was always laughing and even at times that I didn't feel like it, I couldn't help it. They both brighten my day. The wound care team was very impressive along with Dr. Hupert. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. R.evans

Kindred Southwest what can you say except Wow! There are so many people I would like to acknowledge for such outstanding care provided while I was a patient. They have the most awesome nurses, like Chris, who become a new daddy, Linda and Barbara who makes sure everything runs smooth. The techs, Beverly, PJ always made sure my hair was neat, Robin, Dominque was good. Housekeeper Virginia was pleasant while cleaning my room each time with a smile. Nancy my dietitian always kept me on the right track, Annie in dietary would make sure I received sweet tea on my breakfast tray, thanks for remembering. My two doctors, Dr.Kurup and Dr. Sashi are incredible. Kindred' wound care team I appreciate everything you did for me. And the rest of the Kindred team who I didn't have the pleasure of meeting kudos to you. Last was my roommate, we had a lot in common. Take care of yourself. Winnie

When your in a hospital more than at your home you really would like a hospital that gives the feeling of home. I have been in and out of hospitals since September and the last one was at Baylor in Waco a teaching hospital. My doctor in Waco recommended Kindred SW, he said that he had a couple of doctors that he felt would help me even more. Dr. Ferree and Dr. Bismar are wonderful physicians. Also I had heard from a friend of a friend how great Kindred was. From day one here at Kindred I felt like I was at my home, it's not a brand new hospital however the floor I'm on is newer and with it being a older hospital the people that I have come in contact with have been genuine, very caring. I would like to say Callie my nurse and Donna my tech were amazing, along with the rest of there team. Housekeeping cleaned my room everyday, the saying Its like cleanliness is next to godliness is true. I can't thank everyone enough. I will pass along to anyone that ask about my stay at Kindred. The pulmonary rehab program is excellent and it really gives you hope that you can actually do and learn more than you originally thought possible. The therapists are extremely knowledgeable and they will definitely answer any questions that you may have. Prior to coming here, I felt that I couldn’t do anything. I didn’t have the strength to stand and cook a meal and I had to take breaks when I was preparing my meals. I couldn’t climb stairs and I couldn’t go grocery shopping either. The biggest thing that bothered me was not being able to do things with my grandchildren and now I am able to play with them again. I have made much progress since starting pulmonary rehab here. When I started coming here, I could only use 2 pound dumbbells and now I have worked my way up to the 5 pound dumbbells. I also recently joined the YMCA. Some of the therapists here suggested I try yoga and I’m also going to attempt that. The therapists here are very encouraging and they give you the strength necessary to get better. They really care about you and you can tell that it comes from the heart. They are very uplifting and they give you praise throughout the program. I have never been in another pulmonary rehab program but I have been around respiratory therapists before and they’re not all like these therapists. Some do not care for you as much as they do. Tanya is very accommodating and is very sweet. She has been wonderful and is always so upbeat. She knows her job and always has the right answer. She is very good about making sure that she doesn’t push you too much, but just enough to keep you progressing. Ron, Marty and Ken we’re also very wonderful. Morgan just started working here and she always has a smile on her face. I would definitely recommend this program to others as I think that it is a very important program for anybody that is afflicted with any lung disease. I regularly reference the material that they provided for me just to make sure I’m doing things the right way. I don’t know how to get the word out to everyone with a lung problem but providing this review is a good start. They not only help you physically but psychologically as well. I’ve had some down days when coming here and when I left I was feeling very uplifted. I really can’t find the words to describe how exceptional this program is. I’m really going to miss this and the friends that I’ve made while coming here. I am however going to continue coming to the COPD support group here at Kindred Fort Worth Southwest

I’ll never forget the first day I started coming here. I was out in the lobby and Ken came to get me. I asked him where in the building the program was located and he said it was down the hall. I told him ”I can’t walk that far. Can you get me a wheelchair?”, and he did. During the evaluation, he told me “We’ll have you walking up a flight of stairs before long.” That right there change my whole perspective on this program. For the first time in five years, I’m walking around Walmart on my own. I am so grateful for the opportunity to come here. Just today, I rode the stationary bike for 20 minutes straight through without rest. To some people, walking around Walmart is not that big of a deal. But for me, it’s a major accomplishment. I recently had an appointment with my transplant surgeon and I asked him “Do you notice anything different about me?” He said” Yeah, you walked in here on your own.” I attribute all this to pulmonary rehab. I started coming here, I did with they told me to do and that change my life. I only had 43% lung function when I began and I had been on oxygen for seven years and used it at 8 to 12 L per minute. Now, the maximum liter flow I need is only 4 to 6 L per minute and I keep improving. I love the staff here, which consists of Ken, Tanya, Ron and Marty. I thank them daily for the encouragement they’ve given me through all of this. My doctor said that after my transplant, I will need a pulmonary rehab again and I told him that I want to come back to Kindred. Having this lung disease has been an affliction but in some ways it has also been a blessing due to the number of people that I’ve met who have helped me and encouraged me throughout all of this.

At kindred they have treated me more like a person then as a patient. Everybody from top to bottom has been outstanding. They always have a smile and willing to help whenever I needed that. It's hard to believe but it's true. It seems to be a cultural thing at the hospital for everyone to have a positive attitude but there are some that could use some improvement. But you're going to have that everywhere and it doesn't have to be in the hospital. But I do want to say that I have a few favorites. Lawanda who is one of my nurses is so professional and very uplifting. Thank you. I didn't have her that many times but Paula who works as a nurse has been very sweet and caring. Also Jerrianne and Jamika fall into the same category.

Everyone always has a happy face when they come and see me and it's great for helping to lift my spirits but also the people they work with as well. Every time they have a shift change they always tell me who is going to be my nurse which makes it easier for me without guessing who is going to be looking after me. Also the charge nurse who works on the floor has also been very helpful. Whenever I needed any sort of information she was always there to help out.

Almost forgot Lauren as she is always speeding around my room and in the halls helping others and myself. Also kudos to Fred and Terry and my case manager Brooke for helping out.

Nurses have been teriffice, outstanding to say the least. Everyone has treated me well and with kindness. Im fortunate to have a private room all to myself and the care of the 4th floor has been great. The food has been good but i miss my wifes cooking and eating out. Alfred from the pulmonary team has eduacted me quite a bit about different breathing techniques. Apprectated it alot. The physical therapy team also deserves some kudos. They wore me out but in a good way. Thank you everyone for the great care. Thank you Lacie me nurse for looking after me.

I have been coming to Kindred’s pulmonary rehab for three months now. Before starting here, my condition was very grim. I would stay in bed all the time and I didn’t feel like every doing anything. There were feelings of hopelessness and uselessness and there was no quality of life. I also felt like I was becoming a burden on my family. Then one day during a visit to my pulmonologist, he recommended for me to go to Kindred’s pulmonary rehab. He told me that I was in a severe stage of COPD and that I should start attending this program at Kindred to try to improve my condition. He sent the order to the hospital and I was contacted by the pulmonary rehab staff. I made an appointment for an evaluation and at that time I was only able to walk 410 feet before becoming very short of breath. I started attending three times a week and it was very hard at first and I sometimes wanted to give up. If it wasn’t for their staff encouraging me and giving me hope, I probably would’ve quit. A few weeks into my rehab, I started feeling much better about myself. Tanya just kept telling me”” You can do this!” and kept me going. I am so grateful for the encouragement that I received and this program has made a huge difference in my life and in that of my family. Tonya, Ron, Marty, Ken, Morgan and Alfred are very encouraging, they make it fun and they really do care about their patients. I am now able to walk twice as far as I did when I started without becoming very short of breath. I would definitely recommend this program to anybody who needs this type of help. I know that the future now looks much brighter for me! I would also suggest that anybody who is in the condition I was in not give up because this program and their staff have given me new hope. I’ve also lost 20 pounds since I started coming here with the exercises and with the things that I learned about eating healthier. It’s been a complete lifestyle change for me and my family has also joined me in eating healthier and dieting. I could not have done this without the people here at Kindred.

This is my third time and I chose to come to Kindred. Actually I asked to come back. Late evening transfers can be a burden on the staff. I wish that they can do transfers early in the day to better facilitate the nurses as well as the patient. Because from the patient's perspective coming in on a late transfer can be overwhelming at times to both the patient as well as the team because of lack of information transmitted from the other Hospital and access to medication. On previous, including this admission I feel like management valued dollars and bed occupancy over appropriateness of patient care.

On the first admission there was a hiccup in my room assignment but they got it all sorted out after my physician had to go to management.
But my care now has been very very good!

I would say that during my time at kindred Erica who is one of the nurses that looked after me was exceptional. Her professionalism, expertise and rapport exceeded my expectations. She is definitely a recommendation for anybody who is planning to be admitted to Kindred. I would love to have her on my staff.

Ursa who is another nurse that works there has been phenomenal. Her goals is to make a difference in the lives of the patients at every encounter and she exceeds wonderfully.
John was my LVN on the evenings was wonderful and he has great organizational skills, technical expertise and teaching skills. He''s very low-key but very intensely aware of the patient's condition and meet their needs as he did mine. He's a great candidate for upward mobility.

On the same note Sylvia who works in the housekeeping team has great respect during the time she was in my room doing the cleaning. She recognized when I was resting and worked she worked very quietly to minimize the noise and not to disturb me.

And quick summary the nursing care, support from staff which include OT, PT, CT and pulmonary are definitely valued and appreciated by me.

Dr. Mott and Laura from Weatherford Regional we're the ones that admitted me to Kindred. It's a little far from where I stay but I didn't have much choice. Heard a lot of good news from the doctor about Kindred. Didn't really know what to expect from the hospital but all I knew was I needed additional therapy. What I have experience from the pulmonary program has been exceptional. Eric from the therapy department worked with me on my exercises and helping me to build my endurance and muscle strength. Also Ron a really cool guy who is the instructor for the pulmonary program taught me a lot of things that I didn't know before. Which was helpful because now I'm not only educated but I'm also able to do the things that I didn't do before. After my discharge, I'll be receiving additional therapy in Weatherford and looking forward to it.

But I have some really great nurses who work with me that include Lawanda, Carrie and Romeo. Lawanda has been terrific. She has a very pleasant and polite demeanor while the care has been very good. One of the nicest nurse I have met in quite some time. Carrie and Romeo also fit into that same politeness category. Actually the whole nursing staff has been exceptional.

I did have some problems with the food some items didn't come. For example one day I have tater tot's but no hamburger. They also forgot to bring the condiments. But they were able to take care of it. That would be the only suggestion for improvement that I would recommend.

I would have no problem to recommend anybody to come to Kindred for therapy. I hope my experience that I am sharing with you helps in your decision.

We usually go to Hugely because it's closer to the house but we were recommended to this Hospital by Dr. Sachi who is our infection doctor. The travel is a bit father because it's about 30 miles from the house. But since my husband has been there the care from the nurses has been excellent. The nurses seem to care for his well being and just always wanting to make him feel comfortable. It's our 1st time but we are happy with the the stay.

A few staff member have really stood out for both me and my husband. Such as Linsey, Belinda and Jamica. They have a great way of making him happy and feeling comfortable. The one thing that I noticed and appreciate is before giving medication they help to explain what is being given and and what's it for. Rickey from the house keeping has also been great and the tech are fantastic. The call light was never really a big issue and they are always speedy to help. My husband just wishes they had more western channels but I guess he can find something suitable to watch. Would recommend western channels for the older crowd. My husband says the food has been good as well. Would recommend this Hospital.

Never even heard of Kindred before I came to this Hospital. But the care that I have gotten from the nursing department has been phenomenal. Everyone has been so nice to me. I haven't met one person that wasn't nice during the stay. They asked if I had someone to mention in my review but I can't seem to remember everyone and don't want to highlight one person as they all have been terrific. Very caring, cheerful and professional. A great Hospital for sure. No wonder why they have so many happy people her. I have a roommate and he expressed the same feeling. Not one complaint from both of us during the say. He will be leaving tomorrow from what he told me but it's been a great experience.
