Great place to get a tattoo. Shavon is awesome and great at what she does.

Best custom ink in SC hands down. Shavon is amazing at what she does! I would recommend anyone to her. But with warning that she is a busy lady and the dollars signs $$$ might scare you at first. But fret not, the work is absolutely amazing. As the old saying goes you get what you pay for is absolutely true in this case. And I mean that in the best way possible.

I would have to say that if I could rate the Purple Lotus higher than 5 stars, I would have to give them a 10. Shavon is one of the most wonderful people that I have ever meet. The attention to detail is by far amazing, because this Japanese Dragon tattoo I got has some of the most vibrant color that I have ever seen on any work of art on skin. As Shavon say's, "You will have this work of art for the rest of your life, and it is the only thing that you can take to the grave." Those are very true words spoken from someone great. Since my original review, I have gotten more work done and the quality hasn't waivered one bit. I love Shavon and her work of art that she always comes to the table with. If you make the right choice and decide to get an absolute work of art, then tell Shavon that Mike Chaney sent you.

My wife and i each have 5 tattos so far. 2 of mine and 3 of her's were done by shavon. we both agree that she is the best out of the artists we have gone to. she does custom tattoos. she draws up what you want and works until the details are perfect. then, once you are done, she sends you home with the drawing. nobody else will have that tattoo. she works faster than the other artists i have gone to, yet does not slack in quality. in fact, she excels in quality of her work. she is also the least painful artist i have gone to. she is a very funny person, but you may need to have some thick skin if she takes a liking to you.

her humor paired with her work makes getting a tattoo from her the best experience it could be. she will probably be the last artist i will go to. if i move, i'll have to come back here any time i want work done.

Shavon is the best tattoo artist. My experience was absolutely wonderful. She made the most beautiful hummingbird tattoo come to life in color. She was quick without loosing any skill. She has an extraordinary eye for detail and works incredibly hard, you are sure to get a one of a kind tattoo that's even better than you imagined.

I went to Shavon with a special idea and she made a few minor changes that made a world of difference. She was very honest and comforting. It took her longer to prepare for doing the art than the actual tattoo and it's immaculate. I have one other and it took about 2 hours of agony so I appreciated this. I'm definitely going back to her. She's honest with you, has an amazing eye, extremely talented and I love the overall atmosphere of Purple Lotus.

I went here for my first tattoo, and the whole experience was wonderful! The design for my tattoo turned out even better than I expected, and the process was both painless and enjoyable. Will be back for my second, wouldnt go anywhere else.

worst person in the world. great work but she is slack and breaks promises. she is a real jerk. she cusses out her clients and makes them wait four months in between appointments. and i paid in full. yall sat there and cussed me out when your assistant gave me the wrong time. i had it saved in my calender let alone that i paid in full and you refused to finish because you broke promises

This is my 3rd tattoo, but the first from that I would consider a custom tattoo artist. And I would emphasize the word artist b/c she can take a concept and bring it to life. My design is unique and unlike anything I've ever seen. Attention to detail was phenomenal. You will not be disappointed, trust me. I'll be back on 3 months to get some work done on one of my older tattoos. Wouldn't trust my skin with anyone else from this point on.

This was my 3rd tattoo and I am already trying to decide what I want next. Not only was my phone call and e-mail answered, but Shavon took time out of her busy day to go over my design. She was willing to fit me in the next day which was unbelievably awesome considering how booked she is. Just look at the other 400+ reviews like I did. Shavon is as genuine as they come. She was extremely sweet and incredibly helpful in trying to help me get my idea onto paper, and then onto me. It was such a warm and loving atmosphere, I wasn't uncomfortable whatsoever and this was my first tattoo. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone who wants any sort of tattoo, whether it's small or elaborate. Mine was relatively simple, but even if yours is complex just look at her website, she's an amazing artist and takes a lot of pride in her work no matter how complex. I'm very glad I did my research, and it was worth every penny. If I want another tattoo again someday, I'll be coming back for sure.

Shavon did a tremendous job! This was my first tattoo and I'm so glad I went with her! She made me feel very comfortable and I felt right at home during my tattoo experience. My father and I both recently got tattoos from Shavon, and we both love them! Aside from the long wait time on the day of our appointment and not getting the designs e-mailed to us in advance, there is nothing negative to say about Purple Lotus. And, in all fairness, I wasn't certain what I wanted, so she couldn't have gotten mine to me earlier. She drafted not one, but THREE awesome designs for my dad to choose from, and is an incredible artist! The shading that she did on my tattoo is unbelievable! I highly recommend Shavon. She is an amazing artist, and is honest and down to earth. She did my tattoo very quickly, and it hurt much less than I anticipated. The environment is relaxing and very comfortable, and it was a great experience! I highly recommend the Purple Lotus to anyone considering getting a tattoo!

While I appreciate all of the positive reviews of the Purple Lotus, my own experience could not have been worse. I took my sister in law (who was 19) for her first tattoo. She had considered this for over a year; since her grandfather's death. Se knew exactly what she wanted: an anchor, on her foot with his date of birth and death. We went into Purple Lotus, where not only was she severely criticized by Shavon specifically, but mocked and made to feel stupid because of her size and placement choices. When asking her what differences she would suggest (nearly in tears from the lasciviousness) , she received the response, "I don't know, it's not my body. Do what you want."



Finally I insisted that we leave. She got a beautiful tattoo about a month later from a wonderful artist in Charlotte. I hope this was an off day for Shavon, even so - there is no excuse for such treatment of potential clients.

What a FANTASTIC Tattoo experience! I've been to several shops and this was the most fun I think I've ever had. From the phone call saying I could be worked in all the way up to the hug good-bye for me and my family there as well when it was over. My Tattoo was just the word BELIEVE across my back and Shavon did a fantastic job, helping me pick out a font, drawing it up for me, and then sizing it up. Being new in town, I just wanted to get something done and this was where I was recommended by a few folks, my oh my how right they were!!!!!!

First tattoo, shavon is not only an amazing artist but amazing person. Will never go anywhere else. This girl seriously rocks.

This is a true "blow by blow" review! Long but worth your time reading!!!

As a suit & tie wearing professional that waited until age 47 to find something meaningful enough to use as the subject matter for my first tattoo I wanted the entire experience to be GREAT! I wanted to feel comfortable, relaxed & at "home" during the experience not tense and out of place like I felt at the other shops I visited.

I asked clients & friends with ink who they suggested. I visited those shops & they were just as I expected, loud music & the typical uninterested tattoo artists. I was not expecting the rude brush off I got at those shops I went to because I was not looking to do some crazy expensive sleeve or giant back piece. Never blow off anyone. You never know when that $200 tattoo can turn into a $1,000 back piece!

Then I did what I should have done in the first place....research! With in a few minutes of going on the internet and reading reviews on many different websites the names Shavon & Purple Lotus kept coming up with five star & very complementary reviews.

At this point I spoke with my wife, who is getting a very detailed back piece, about Shavon & she immediately said "Oh, that's exactly who I am going to have do my tattoo, she has so many people that love her & her work. I have been researching for months".

I called The Purple Lotus, set up a consultation & went down to her studio. I walked in & immediately knew this was the environment I had been looking for! The entire first room is filled to the brim with Japanese art, carvings and artwork.

After meeting with Shavon for a few minutes I knew she was the artist for me! Shavon is as genuine a person as you will find. No pretense, no BS, no attitude......and mostly a friend. After my consultation & setting an appointment for the next day (She was booked until November) She said "give me some love" & came around the table and gave me a genuine hug. My personal opinion is Shavon is a TRUE artist and books by feeling not by dollars.

The next day I came in early for my appointment & Shavon was doing VERY intricate wrist tattoos for a client and i was told it would be a long while. During the time that I was hanging out, I met a very cool "cast" of friends that help her out at her studio. They were all very friendly & inviting! Again making her studio feel much more like "home" than a tattoo studio.

From time to time Shavon would call out to me, or come out & tell me to come in & see the work she was doing.

As it came to be my time for a tattoo she was very gentle, she was very calming, looked me square in the eye during every conversation (trust), answered every question I had (even the dumb, first timer questions) and was just very soothing. She told me EXACTLY what to expect before she started from the sound of the tattoo machine to the different needle sizes and the pain they cause.

Because it was my first tattoo she went VERY easy at the beginning to give minimal pain and time for my endorphins to kick in.

During the hour and half or so that I was on Shavons table a steady stream of her previous and prospective clients and friends came in and out of the room and Shavon spoke to them all during the whole tattoo process.

When she was done with my tattoo and temp bandage she turned around and said to me "your part of the family now". And of course, as I was about to leave she said "where is my love", walked over and gave me another genuine hug.

I have to say the experience at Purple Lotus with Shavon and her family FAR EXCEEDED my expectations of the entire process!!! I WILL be back for more ink and with my wife for her back piece just to hang out with the Purple Lotus family!

I absolutely love my new tattoo. Shavon created a beautiful piece of art over a terrible tattoo from 20 years ago. She ceated a piece that exceeded my expectations. Shavon and her staff were extremely friendly and made me feel very comfortable. I'll be back for more beautiful art by Shavon!

Amazing! After taking over 2 years to decide what I wanted to cover up an existing tattoo, I went to Shavon's and showed/told her what I was thinking. She so very kindly scheduled me for work on her day off which I really appreciate. We decided on colors together and she gave me her artistic opinions as to what would look the best. Once she got to work, there was great music to be heard, relaxing conversation and an overall sense of feeling at home. Since the new piece is a cover-up, she told me in advance I would probably have to come back for more coloring because the colors of the new tattoo are lighter in shade. I think the best part, besides her talent, was the hug she gave me before I left!! She said you become part of the family once you get work done there and I truly felt that. I look forward to getting more work done in the not so distant future. Thank you very much, Shavon!
