Shavon's Purple Lotus Body Art

I had a bad tattoo experience where a much less qualified artist misspelled a large tattoo I had on my chest. I thought laser removal was my only option, but Shavon was recommended to me so i went and talked to her. She was booked through mid June, but squeezed me in the next week. The work that was already there took almost 5 hours, she wasn’t happy with the way it looked so she went back over every line that was there, fixed the lettering, added color, and added her own flare in 45 min! She makes other artists look like scrubs with her work; I wish I would have researched more because I would have defiantly chosen her in the first place. Overall the best tattoo experience I’ve ever had and she has a lifetime customer as well as a walking ad for how great her work is. I just got my first tattoo at the age of 42...after almost 20 years in a negative and controlling marriage, I wanted a way to express my freedom and sense of self. The shop was extremely busy, but Shavon and her staff made myself and my boyfriend feel very comfortable and welcome. Shavon talked to me, listened and was patient, let me observe someone else be tattooed, and talked me through the entire process, even adding some flair of her own...and I have a beautiful piece of body art that I can be proud of!

My husband and I went in to get our sons birthday tattooed... A very simple and small tattoo. Shavon botched our tattoos! We paid way more than I would ever pay for a tattoo and are now stuck with horrible crooked odd shaped tattoos. I won't even go back to her to get them fixed, I'd go anywhere else. This was my 5th tattoo and the worst experience! We had a scheduled appt and yet we waited 2 hours. It was unprofessional and ridiculous. All she does talk about how amazing she is, when in fact her work shows otherwise.

I've had two tattoo's done by Shavon and plan on a third soon. She also created art for my husband and son. She listens to what the customer wants and works diligently to give you a true piece of art. I'm extremely pleased with the work, the friendly environment and her patience in making me me feel relaxed. She has the ability to do great quality work while making the experience fun, she is a true artist!

I have had several tattoos, not big ones, - my husband has had several and there are several I have wanted for years. I have been searching for the "right" person to do my next tatto.. i have seen several tattoos that are less the spectacular, not bad - but just lines of ink on the arm. I wanted my tattoo - (a quarter sleeve that would always be seen ) to have personality, to be awesome. So - I have searched for 5 years, I have tried to get Kat-von-D and a few others to do the work, but due to their schedules and me flying to where ever it hasnt panned out. I read about Shavon on line about 1/1/2 years ago and kept her in mind to check out. about a month ago i had some time and took a drive to her shop. I liked her work and her spirit. I scheduled an appointment, she called within a week with the artwork drawn up and ready for it to be fitted to my arm. I got nervous, and thought about cancelling, but I did go in and get fitted. When I saw the drawing I never had a second though about the piece being great. I just got the "outline" done .... she hasnt even finished with the filling in of everything, and this piece is MORE than what I could have hoped! In five years of creating this masterpiece in my head, i HOPED for a lot and got that and more. SHE IS TALENTED AND DETAIL ORIENTED. There can not be many - if any - artist with much over on Shavon. SHe is worth the time, any wait to get in to her studio and well worth the price. The atmosphere and ora of Shavon's shop makes for a most pleasant experience with a wonderful outcome!

Taylor went in for his fifth tattoo and when we walked in, I was more than ready to walk out. But while we waited, i watched Shavon with a difficult client and my opinion changed 180 degrees. I was with Taylor while she worked her "magic" on him and believe it or not, I found her to be FABULOUS! Kind, gentle, easy to talk to and WHAT AN ARTIST! I have one tattoo myself and have, for one reason or another, been stalling on getting my second (I really wanted to wait to go back to Florida and get it 'cause that's where I got the first). But no more. I'm gonna get Shavon to do it. I'm that much impressed. I even told Taylor that I was ready for three and four also. So, to make a long story short, Taylor is quite happy, I am so impressed that i can honestly say that as long as Shavon is in business here NO ONE will ink me but her. So Shavon and Richard, keep up the excellent work and we will see you next time. And oh, almost forgot........love the lavender walls. ;-)

I disagree with most of the comments on how wonderful the experience is at Shavon's. I am not impressed and actually pretty pissed off. I just got back from Shavon's so she could check out the tattoo she did four weeks ago. I wanted something "more", but couldn't put it in the right words apparently. I found her to be defensive, unprofessional, and seemingly uncaring. She was also somewhat confused about our previous conversations concerning the tattoo. Although she has offered to do more work on it - not sure whether she would charge more for this work - but I think I'll pass. This was my first tattoo experience and I thought I'd get a lot more out of it - maybe next time, somewhere else.

Shavon is a one of kind artist that you can trust and know for sure your tattoo will come out perfect every time. I have had tattoo's done by a few other plaes and after going to purple lotus, i would never go anywhere again. Shavon has to fix my other tattoo's because the one she did looks so perfect its embarrising haveing the others look so bad. I would recomind anyone in the country or in the world to give her shop a try. You will not regret it. Shavon is awesome. Thats all i can say!! Thank you Purple Lotus.

If you are looking to get a tattoo then you need to go to Shavon's! I was on the fence about whether I should get my first tattoo or not and then I saw her work. Her talent made up my mind to finally get one. Her studio is very calming and relaxing. Nothing like you would think a tattoo establishment would look like. Everything is very professional and clean. Shavon's artwork is AMAZING. Everything is personalized and unique. It was like she took the image from my head and put it to paper. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I am telling everyone I know who wants a tattoo to go to her and her only!!

I loved my experience at the purple lotus. I felt very welcome and comfortable the entire time i was there. Shavon really made my experience worth every second and every penny spent. I will never ever even consider going to another tattoo shop to get a tattoo. She made me feel comfortable while getting inked even going through the pain. It was my first tattoo and i'm really glad she was apart of it. she made it awesome. she was very helpful with explaining everything i needed to do to take care of it the right way. most people just tell you the simple things but she explained every detail of it. over all my experience was amazing, just like my tattoo! and in the future she will be the one doing my ink!! i love her!

Too cool, I just got my first tattoo from Shavon and i am more than pleased with the results! She was very professional for the entire experience and she made sure I was familiar with everything as far as safety, aftercare, and the like. She's a top class artist and i would, and already have started, recomend her to anyone looking to get a tattoo. Thank you Shavon for the great work!

I've had 1 tattoo done by Shavon so far (in the process of my 2nd) and its the best experience I've ever had! Even had my mom come down with me and got her one too, which was awesome! Very relaxed atmosphere and everyone there has a great attitude! I would recommend getting work done by Shavon any day! She's just that great of an artist! Can't wait to get more and more artwork done.

Shavon is a professional. I would recommend her to anyone who cares what their tattoo will look like. I absolutely love the work I had done on my back and my husband (a skeptic when it comes to tattoos) was completely wowed by the work. Two of my friends also had theirs done by her that same weekend and we are all very, very happy.

From the drawing of my tattoo, to actually to getting the tattoo, to the follow-up appointment.My experience was awesome! Shavon really knows how to make you feel welcome in her shop. I will definitely use Shavon for my next one. Thanks Shavon!

Long story short, I planned a visit to Columbia from LA to visit friends and e-mailed Shavon to see if she could do a tattoo while I was in town. She was super quick and super nice over e-mail and even better in person. Purple Lotus has a great atmosphere and Shavon's sense of humor puts everyone at ease and makes what can be a painful experience fun. Her work is the best. She's a perfectionist but that's really what you want for a permanent piece of art. Bottom line: I'll come back to Shavon for my next tattoo.

I am a new customer of Shavon and I wish that I could give a higher review than 5 stars. Everything about her store is perfect; it is sanitary, great customer service, respectable prices, incredible art. From the moment I walked in, I knew I chose the right place. I was treated with respect and had a BLAST being there. I personally reccommend Purple Lotus to anybody interested in getting a tattoo. Also, her receptionist is cute haha :)

I will never go anywhere else for a tattoo! I went to Shavon to design something to cover up an existing tattoo. I had some ideas of what I wanted, and she used my ideas to design an absolutely gorgeous tattoo that I LOVE. It's amazing that she knew what I wanted better than I did. Not only that, but I had so much fun talking with Shavon and her friends in the shop. I immediately felt like family, and it was definately a very comfortable atmosphere.

There aren't enough positive words to describe the experience I had with Shavon. She's an amazing artist and truly gifted at what she does. I came into the studio sporting an ugly scar of a tattoo and she turned it into the most beautiful piece of art. She made me feel pretty again. And not just by giving me an awesome tattoo but by taking the time to really get to know me. She puts a lot of care and detail into what she does. And for that no one will ever be inking me again.

I have gotten tattoos at several other places and not one of them made me feel as immediately comfortable as Shavon. Not only is she super nice, her work was fantastic! I went to her not having any real idea of what I wanted and came home with a tattoo I absolutely love! I highly recommend Shavon's Purple Lotus to anyone and everyone.
