When I first visited Dr. Urbanek, I had symptoms from TMJ going back 20+ years including frequent headaches, ringing in my ears, jaw locking, jaw pain/soreness, some vertigo and numbness in my fingers and toes. Within 2 weeks of my receiving the splint, the headaches and jaw pain decreased significantly. It has now been over 2 months and I can say that my symptoms are almost entirely gone (85% or so). I have had TMJ pain off and on for several years. Went through night guards due to my grinding at night. Every time I went to my ENT with an earache, 99% of the time, it was due to TMJ pain. Just after 3 weeks of wearing my TMJ split from Dr. Urbanek, my have decreased by 90%. The split is comfortable & I don't have any problem with continuing to wear it with hopes of 100% decrease and resolution of pain.

when I first visited I was having constant tension in my jaw, ear pain, and headache. After the instruction and care from Dr. Urbanek my pain has diminished and overall that is huge for me as I now don't need to "take a little break" when playing with my son. The absence of the headaches alone as been such a blessing. YAY!

I came into Dr Urbanek's office at the recommendation of my ENT after I mentioned constant ear pain that had gotten so bad that I found myself on antibiotics a couple months in a row. The pain even went into my jaw and kept me up at night as I struggled to find a comfortable position to fall asleep in. In his office, Dr Urbanek asked me a series of questions related to symptoms I had experienced for pretty much my entire life. Headaches, ear pain, jaw pain, numbness and tingling in my arm, even neck pain. At times, I felt like I was under water which would send me into a panic. I was convinced there was something wrong in my brain. The symptoms affecting one side of my body made me think I had a mild stroke at some point that went undetected. Imagine my relief to hear that my issues were something he was not only familiar with but could treat. I was fitted with a splint and within a day, I felt wonderful. The excruciating pain was gone almost immediately and the other symptoms began to subside as well. I am so grateful to him and his entire staff for their help.

For 20 years I have know that I grind my teeth at night, but this winter my symptoms got so much worse. I talked to my dentist and got a night guard and my PCP gave me muscle relaxants. When these didn't help and my life was interrupted by pain and dizziness on a daily basis, they BOTH referred me to Dr. Urbanek. After trying herbal concoctions, massage and anything else I could find, I finally made an apt. I have had my TMJ splint for only 3 weeks now and my symptoms are 85% relieved. My jaw pain is gone, my dizziness is gone and my headaches are few and far between. I am so glad I finally came in.

I visited Dr. Urbanek because I had flare-ups a few months prior with pain in my jaw. The pain had been so bad I could barely open my mouth. After taking predisone pack and ibuprofen it got better. Then a few weeks later I had another flare up. This is when I scheduled an appt with Dr. Urbanek. After using the device he prescribed I have had no problems since. So far so good.

I had been suffering for years with jaw pain and popping and sometimes the locking of the jaws. I was referred to Dr. Urbanek from my ENT doctor. I was amazed at the symptons I had been having was attributed to TMJ. Dr. Urbanek stated that he would not consider surgery but he could make a TMJ splint to help with my TMJ symptoms. I am amazed at how the small splint has not only helped with my symptoms but eliminated all of my symptoms. If you are a TMJ sufferer I would higher recommend Dr. Urbanek. YOu will not be disappointed.

After meeting with Dr. Urbanek, he had me where a splint that they custom fitted for my mouth. I had to wear the device 24/7 for 3 weeks. I began to notice my bite was better and after the 3 weeks I was about 85%. I then started wearing the device at night and am close to restoring my bite again.

So I developed TMJ in my Senior year of college, mainly due to an incredible amount of stress, which in turn made me clench my jaw consistently at night and some during the day. I would have painful headaches, jaw pain, neck pain, some dizziness, and would just feel awful the majority of my days. Since wearing this splint, I have much less pain and headaches, and my dentist said it is also helping my gums not to recede as much as before I began wearing the splint. This splint has definitely made my quality of life better, and I am thankful I found this device and doctor!

My story started actually about 20 yrs ago when my son was about 2 he raised his head on my chin and knocked my bite off. I then went to a dentist and was give a mouth guard which I wore for about 2 wks and I thought the problem was solved. But not the case. About 2 years ago I begin to have shooting pain up in my jaw, which was very odd feeling to me. It was so different from anything I had experienced before. I went to my dentist which stated she did not have a clue what it could be because my teeth and gums were fine from xrays. I then went to a endodontist which gave me a root canal on one of my back teeth that I had a crown already on This was very upsetting when on the way home, still deadened had the same pain that I had before I went. It was very hard to talk I was iin so much pain. I went to get my hair cut, and my hair dresser told me I had TMJ, she had it, and it was the same simptoms. She told me to go to walgreens and get a TMJ mouthpiece and it would help. Which I did, it helped a little, but the pain would come back even work after a while. After about 5 or six mouth pieces I had the idea that I should go to the dentist in my hometown, Fairview Tn which I had ask to do a mold for me to try because I had bought several mouth pieces and maybe one that would fit my mouth would work better. He then recommended Dr Urbanek, and said he was a TMJ specialist. I thought what the heck, it is worth the try. My life has never been the same since I went to his office for a visit. My mouth has not hurt again since I received my mouth piece, and I am so thankful for him, and Dr k for recommending him to me. For the longest time, I would wake up every morning with a headache. I never thought anything about it until other symptoms started. I even foolishly ignored those until I ended up in a walk in clinic for a "double ear infection". After that visit I was referred to a family doctor and then to an ENT. Neither one could help me, but my ENT referred me here after noticing there was nothing wrong with my ears and my jaw was swollen. I'm so happy he did. Dr. Urbanek has helped me so much. The TMJ appliance is a life saver. I was in tears somedays and missing work at times and within a couple months the most I ever experience is a mild ear ache sensation. If you have headaches, ear aches, etc. I would highly recommend getting checked out because I had never heard of TMJ and it was the root of my discomfort and now its nearly completely eradicated. I couldn't believe how knowledgeable Dr. Urbanek was in diagnosing and treating my pain. I wasn't even aware that some of my symptoms were related to my TMJ. I had been dealing with this for 40 years and now no more locked jaw! My ear aches are gone, my chin to ear pain gone and I haven't felt dizzy, since I started wearing my appliance. Thank you.

Hi, I am a Scuba Instructor in Kauai and I was having major issues with serious pain in my ears and jaw while I was diving and it was taking the fun out of diving. I was originally told to go and see an ENT and then they told me it was TMJ so that's how I found Dr. Urbanek. I was having major pain behind and under my ears. I would also retain a lot of fluid behind my eardrum which would cause me equalization problems and a lot of ear infections. The entire right side of my face and down my neck would swell after I would go diving and would last a few days. I wasn't able to do my job anymore due to the pain. I was having vertigo issues under water and I would also have major issues with lock jaw to the point I was on a soup and noodle diet because I could barely open my mouth to fit anything in. Dr. Urbanek has been able to give me my happy and exciting lifestyle back! I have been using his device for 1.5 years now and I don't know what I would do without it! I wear it at night only now....I really hated using it at first but now I feel weird even if I nap without it in. Thank you thank you thank you!!!!

I have suffered from headaches, ear pain, and jaw pain for 2-3 years. After a visit with an ENT i was referred to Dr. Urbanek. He immediately knew what the problem was. He made this special device that i wear daily and it has improved my symptoms 96%. I am very impressed with my results and the care i have been given.

My experience with Dr. Urbanek and his staff has been wonderful. Everyone is so friendly and willing to offer help and a listening ear! I had suffered with TMJ for more than 15 years. The worst part was that I had never been told that all of my ear trouble was directly related to the TMJ. I went through 3 sets of tubes in my ears and treated for an average of 4 ear infections per year. All along it was my jaw causing my ear troubles! Dr. Urbanek took the time necessary to explain the causes and treatment process to me. I received my splint in a couple of weeks and noticed tremendous relief of my symptoms almost immediately. Today I estimate that I am 98% symptom free!!! Thank you Dr. Urbanek and staff!

I first was told I had TMJ when I went to the doctor thinking I had an ear infection. It felt like a very severe ear infection deep down in my ear. My doctor took a look in my ear and told me that nothing was wrong. A few months later, I returned with the same symptoms. Again, she looked in my ear and said that nothing was wrong. Then she suggested that I may have TMJ. I spoke to my dentist about it. My dentist looked at my x-ray, and suggested that the problem was probably my wisdom teeth. I got my wisdom teeth removed and found that afterwards the pain in my jaw did not stop and was amplified. I told my dentist about it again, and he sent me here. I came in, and answered his questions and was diagnosed with TMJ. There would be weeks and even months where I could not turn my head a certain direction, and I thought it was just stress and tension. I thought that I just got migraines. After I started wearing the splint (as annoying as it may have been at first) my symptoms began to go away. Now I do not live off of Motrin and Bengay.

After months of severe headaches and being misdiagnosed and prescribed mountains of antibiotics, steroids, and migraine meds, Dr. Urbanek and his staff provided me with the most simple, non invasive solution. After only a few weeks, my pain and symptoms significantly improved.
