HEALED! I had awful jaw soreness, sharp pains, migraines, neck pains, and upper back and lower back aches, sharp pains and numbness post auto-accident. I was born with both of my jaws out of place; the top too far in, and the bottom too far out. As I got older, it got progressively worse as my bottom jaw continued to grow more outward. I had a lot of pain..(headaches and jaw pain) that I was told could be associated with my condition. When I was eleven, I overheard my orthodontist mention that I was a surgical case which scared me for a long time, and I didn't think I could do it. Through out my young adult life I have experienced headaches and jaw aches that I couldn't sooth. At first, I thought they were normal and that this was just pain I would have to live with, however I learned that I had TMJ and my dentist referred me to Dr. Urbanek. I learned that I couldn't rid myself of TMJ but I could manage the symptoms that caused me pain which was exactly what I was looking for. After 3 weeks of wearing Dr. Urbanek's device I haven't had any of my pesky headaches or jaw aches! Yay! If you have TMJ and are experiencing some of the same things I did or worse I would definitely recommend Dr. Urbanek's device! At the very least list it as an option and consider it because it might give you the same relief it's given me.

I was referred to Dr. Urbanek by my dentist. I have always had issues with my jaw popping and have tried various mouth guards with not much success. I am a terrible night time grinder. After 25 years of occasional jaw pain it started to become more frequent and more painful. At first the splint was hard to get used to and I was made fun of for the way it made me talk. I will take the occasional joke at my expense for all the relief I have received by wearing the splint. Today I have no jaw pain! also my husband gets to rest at night and not hear me grinding. I'm in my mid 50's and I've had significant jaw pain for 20+ years! I've used many different kinds of night guards, to prevent teeth grinding, which is the major cause of my jaw pain. None of them worked very well. I usually ended up grinding down the guard! I would wake with extreme headaches. My jaw popping and pain was so bad I resigned myself to the fact I would not be able to chew hard foods again. So I didn't. But when the ear ringing started, I couldn't ignore it any longer. Went to ENT thinking i had an infected ear. He assured me there was nothing wrong with my ear and sent me to Dr. Erbanek. i was diagnosed with TMJ and had a piece formed for my mouth to alleviate the pain. i was told that this therapy would alleviate a lot of other conditions i was dealing with such as headaches, neck pain, shoulder pain and remove the tingling in my arm. i was skeptical but felt i had no choice but to give it a try. i followed instructions to the letter and am now at the end of the first two months and amazingly 90% of these conditions have cleared up. i would suggest that anyone who suspects they have this same condition wouild try this method of dealing with TMJ. it is so much better than having to have surgery to correct the problem. i am totally sold on this type of treatment. I consider myself fairly well educated and knowledgeable of common medical issues. I have always been healthy and take very few medications. Recently I have had an issue with my arms gong to sleep. I would awaken with pain in my hands, fingers and arms. Sometimes the pain was so severe that I could not sleep. I thought I had a nerve or problem with my neck or spine. Meanwhile, I did contract a severe ear infection and during that healing process it was suggested that I might have TMJ. I was referred to Dr. Urbanek and was diagnosed with TMJ. After being fitted with an oral device and wearing it for only three weeks, my arm pain has disappeared completely. I am amazed. I researched how many physical systems are a result of TMJ and was amazed at the long list. We all seem to know about grinding teeth but the list is extensive. As I began my experience with Dr. Urbanek I was skeptical as I had seen many doctors for my migraines with no relief. My pain began over a decade beforehand. I had seen several different specialists and no one ever put all of my symptoms together. Finally after a visit to an ENT he recommended Dr. Urbanek. I am forever grateful!! My most severe symptoms included my jaw locking more than 8 times EVERY day, severe pain in my ear (which for years I was told was just fluid on my ears), right arm tingling, migraines or a painful headache EVERY day. My first visit was due to my teeth not coming together which was also causing some jaw pain. At the recommendation of my dentist I had visited another physician who treats TMJ. This physician described the various symptoms that may be caused by TMJ and prescribed treatment which included extensive use of appliances over an extended period of time. I had suffered debilitating TMJ pain in my upper lip and ear for several years. I also still had my wisdom teeth at 40. I found Dr. Urbanek during an online search and I was so happy to find he was right here in middle Tennessee. His split has resolved all of my pain and now I only wear it at night.

I suffered from jaw pain dating back as far as 30 years. As I grew older, the pain gradually became worse. It hurt to open my mouth wide. It even began to hurt while I ate.
