I told my dentist that I was having severe jaw pain especially when I ate or opened my mouth wide. He told me to visit Dr. Urbanek. When i received the splint I did not think that it would help. After the first 6 weeks I noticed 50% of my pain was gone. I thought that I would still just have the little bit of pain left. One day it dawned on me that I had not had any jaw pain in over 2 months. I was skeptical but I hate to think what my jaw pain would be like if I had not tried the splint.

I began experiencing earaches, neck pain, headaches and shoulder pain 6-8 months ago. The smallest movements (yawning, chewing, etc.) would cause pain. I have a son with special needs and lifting him for 32 years has caused several issues. I destroyed 3 temporary bridges from excessive grinding of my teeth. After about 10 years of major chronic pain due to TMJ i can now say that I am living a normal life. There were many many times I was ready to end my life because the pain was SO bad. Hi, my name is Hailey F. and I'm 15 years old. i started getting my symptoms when i was 14 but had bad migraines 5 years before. I've experienced chronic ear pain for 30 years. Although, I do have a history of sinus and ear infections, my ear pain began to worsen to the point of not being able to sleep at night. After I had my braces removed it became hard for me to open my mouth wide. It was hard for me to eat certain foods and I had ear problems as well. This was my first surgery ever and before I came for my surgery and I didn't know what he was going to do, I was a little scared or nervous about it. But last week when I came and he explained what he was going to do, I felt a lot better. He explained it so well and I automatically knew it was going to be great. He did such a good job. Until I came in to get my wisdom teeth taken out, I had no idea what TMJ was or what it entailed. When i described to him my symptoms he knew immediately how to help. I am so glad he knew what to look for and I feel so much better!

Had I known how much better I would have felt after being treated for my TMJ symptoms, I would have seek treatment a lot sooner. It got so bad it hurt to open my ,mouth to sing in church and I love to sing, but it would hurt to open my jaw to wide. I couldn't open my mouth as wide as I needed to. I came to Dr. Urbanek because I had been involved in a physical altercation which resulted in my orbital socket being fractured in multiple places and left the left side of my face, the tip of my nose, the left side of my mouth and jaw numb and tingling. Dr Urbanek explained he felt the reason for the numbness was pressure on a nerve under my eye and it would require a delicate surgery. I had the surgery the second week of June this year, all went well and I am pleased with the entire staff!

So far so good! Headaches and jaw pain have improved 95% in the last 2 months.
