Lei Liu, MD, is a board-certified doctor of internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine. She joined Ascension Medical Group Via Christi in 2008. Dr. Liu chose a career in medicine because her mother was a physician and watched her help patients while growing up. Her middle school math teacher also encouraged Dr. Liu to care for people instead of pursuing engineering because of her love for others. The most rewarding thing about being a doctor to her is changing people's lives. She listens to their issues to play detective and find clues to help resolve their health issues. Dr. Liu is originally from Jinan in the Shandong Province of China, the province's bustling capital. She moved to Winnipeg, Canada before coming to Wichita and says she likes the people, quiet city and easier driving. When Dr. Liu isn't in the office, she stays fit by practicing several forms of Tai Chi and traveling. In her next life, Dr. Liu says she would still want to be a doctor because she loves her current job.
