Cole's Auto & Transmission Repair

I've been using Cole Auto for all my repairs for over a year. This is the most responsible and honest shop I've had the pleasure of dealing with. Last year Huggins Mitsubishi diagnosed my car as having a broken timing belt after charging me $350 and after I told them what was wrong. They insisted I have the work done there because they would warranty the work. Later after they gave an estimate of over $3700 before tearing onto the engine. The car had 178,000 miles and the book value was only $2300 for the car. Instead of using Huggins I started calling around and found Coles Auto. They were very receptive to my situation and told what I really needed done without selling me parts and service I didn't need. Total cost to walk out the door was under $2500. My car is running better now than when it was only 2 years old and still gets approximately 26-28 mpg per tank.



I recommend Coles Auto to all my friends for work on any type of car from oil changes to major engine repairs since they really care about the customer, not just the final bill.

I have a 1997 Pathfinder - older, but still runs fairly well. EXCEPT - all of a sudden, lots and lots of wear & tear stuff going crazy.



I'd been lucky enough to have a 20-something on hand who could do the less-complicated stuff, but when my car just stopped and spewed coolant one day it turned out to be more than he could handle. My radiator was brand-spanking new, so I knew it wasn't that, but whatthuh??



We were pretty certain (after lots of driveway tinkering) that it was the water pump, but it just was not going to be accessible without way better tools and experience. Luckily, a Google search turned up Cole's.



The couple who run this place are really great - very friendly, and extremely good at communicating exactly what is going on during the repairs. I turned out to have lots of other fun stuff going on (leaky seals, old & cracking belts & hoses) and Howard explained that while he had to have the timing belt & cover off anyway, labor to replace these things now is basically free (since he'll be in there already). He's also completely willing to be completely honest & walk away from extra money if he feels the work won't accomplish what you're trying to fix. That is a very rare quality in an auto repair facility!



Their initial prices blew everyone else out of the water, and even with all the other stuff that was discovered (and it was all legit - they routinely keep your old parts assuming you'll want them, rather than the other way around) they were by far less expensive than anyone else we'd contacted.



I feel much more comfortable knowing I have them as a resource for the next time I need a mechanic. Thanks, guys!

My father took his car to Cole's a while back to get it fixed and had a pleasant experience with Howard and Sara. So when it came to the point that i was leaving work one day and my car would not start i knew who to call. Howard set up a tow truck to come and pick up my car and get it to his shop. I was told everything up front. He said he had an idea what it might have been. While he was in the process of fixing the immediate issue with my car i asked him to check the check engine light and anything else he thought might need his attention. I am very pleased with this experience with Howard. I will reccommend him to anyone that is in need of auto repair.

I first took my 98 Volvo S70 for CV Joints work earlier in 2009. NTB quoted me the same work approx. $600.00 more than what Cole's quoted me. Cole's Auto did the work Fast, Friendly and perfect!. The work is guaranteed for 1yr. I was so impressed, I went back a week later to have my timing belt, water pump and thermostat replaced. Volvo of Irving quoted my around $1600.00 to do the same work. Again, I received same day service, including an oil change with a 1yr warranty on parts/labor at Cole's for approximately $1100 less. Now, I went during lunch to get my front wheel alignment done at Firestone of Irving Mall. They refused to align my car unless I replaced the Ball joints, tie rods and struts. The total amount they quoted me was well over $2000.00. Once again, I called Cole's. Without looking at it and just getting a quote over the phone for Ball joints, tie rods and front wheel aligment, I was quoted a little over $700.00. No brainer... I went back to Cole's. The Owner, looked my car over and said I didn't need ball joints/tie rods, but maybe (based on mileage) just struts with an aligment. I ended up paying on same day service, approximately $400.00. I have a 1yr warranty on parts/labor. Had I gone to any of these other places for service, I would have paid out more than what my car may be worth. Thanks to the Honest, Fast, Friendly and most competative prices, I am keeping my car until the wheels fall off, and then take it back to Coles to get it ready for my kids to drive!

Bought a used minivan and it started acting up right away like the power-steering was going to go out. Being from out of town, I had no idea where to go. I looked on the web and came across Cole's and called them right away and they said come on down and we will check it out. They test drove it and explained it would cost more to have it repaired than what I had into the van. They were up front and honest and did not charge me to test and look it over. I would recommend this shop in a heartbeat and if I come back through on business, I will take all of our work vehicles there.

I have a '98 Chrysler Sebring Convertible and had my timing belt, water pump, rear and front cam crank seals, valve cover gaskets, o-rings, spark plugs and ignition wires replaced for ONLY $1000!! Every other place that I got a quote from wanted at least $1700 or double!!! The owner/mechanic Mr. Cole was very nice and explained everything to me in detail and why I should have it fixed. I originally only wanted the timing-belt and water pump changed but he discovered an oil leak and told me that it would be cheaper to have it done while he is already working on it to save me the labor costs down the road. He recommended also to have my throttle body cleaned and the fuel injectors cleaned. The costs for that would have been about $1100. I told him that I could only afford about $1000 max and he decided to clean my throttle body and fuel injectors for FREE. YES FREE!!! After all the work was completed he completely cleaned my engine and filled up my windshield washer fluid. I came back 2 days later to have fresh oil put into my car (I had my own oil/filter) and he even waived the $10 fee for that and did it for FREE! This is definitely THE BEST MECHANIC I have ever been to! The car runs super smooth now!!!
