While I was in my fellowship at the Wills Eye Hospital, I had the opportunity to work with Dr. Bill Tasman and Dr. Arch McNamara. Primary Care
Dr. Gupta is the co-founder and chief medical officer of USRetinaâ€”one of the largest associations of retina physicians in the United Statesâ€”as well as the founder, chairman, and chief medical officer of Intelligent Retinal Imaging Systems (IRIS), an FDA-cleared, cloud based, telemedicine tool for assessment of retinal eye disease in the primary care setting. Emergency Care
If you experience abdominal pain associated with vomiting, abnormal bleeding, chest pain, severe headache, slurred speech, or weakness on one side of the body go to the Emergency Room or call 911. Please inform the ER physician of the medicine that you have received. As soon as possible inform your ophthalmologists of these problems.

Please make an appointment with your general doctor to get a physical exam prior to your scheduled surgery. We may need to obtain blood tests and/or an EKG prior to surgery based on your doctorâ€™s recommendation.

Glaucoma
Laser Surgery improves sight in some patients with BRVO and macular edema, but vision does not usually return to normal. A large, randomized, controlled clinical trial demonstrated that patients with CRVO and macular edema are not helped by laser surgery. Laser surgery is very effective in preventing vitreous hemorrhage and neovascular glaucoma. However, it does not remove hemorrhage or cure neovascular glaucoma once they are already present. It is best to treat people at risk for these complications before they occur. Your doctor will decide whether laser surgery is appropriate for you. Frequent follow-up examinations are essential. You should make sure that any associated medical condition is treated by your regular physician.

Laser Eye Surgery
Vitrectomy is a type of eye surgery that treats disorders of the retina and vitreous. The retina is the light-sensing tissue found lining the inside back part of the eye. The vitreous is the clear, jelly-like substance that fills the inside of the eye. The vitreous is removed during vitrectomy surgery and usually replaced by a saline-type solution.
Cataracts
The length of the operation varies from under one hour to several hours, depending on the severity of your condition. In certain situations, your doctor may choose to perform another surgical procedure at the same time, such as repairing a detached retina or removing a cataract.

Minimally Invasive Surgery
Your doctor performs the operation while looking into your eye with a microscope. Various miniature instruments are placed into the eye through tiny incisions in the sclera (white part of the eye).
