Headlands beach is the largest natural beach in Ohio. It has tons of sand, you can actually find a few shells around it and has waves on Lake Erie. There is a picnic area, bathroom and there is a lighthouse near to view. All in all, it is a little surreal seeing this beach and realizing you are not at the ocean.
The downside? It is tough to wade out and swim in because there are a ton of small rocks that buffet you right where the surf breaks and when you go out a bit, it has a muddy bottom many places. The water is not clear... But at least there are no sharks or jellyfish!
