White Lake State Park

This is the perfect place to go for people of all ages, whether your looking for a day trip or a place to go comping with the family. In the public beach area there is plenty of parking. The water is clean and goes out VERY gradually for the small kids, but gets deep enough for the big ones. There is a play ground, places to change, rest rooms in 2 locations, grills in certain areas (better get there early if you want one of these). There is also a snack bar if you don't want to tote in your own. Parking is close to the beach area so there isn't a long haul. I have been here when its packed, yet I really never felt crowded. There are mountain views from the beach area, and a place to rent canoes or Kayaks right at the snack bar. The camping area is one the other side of the lake, within a healthy walking distance. This has a clean respectful environment. I don't recall seeing any dogs on the public beach, so if you have a dog you may want to call first an verify if they allow them.
