This is a lengthy story, but w...

This is a lengthy story, but worth your time if you are considering City Auto. I have not had a great experience with my 2006 Murano purchased from City Auto in Feb 2012. I understand that these are used cars, so I don't expect them to be perfect, but I have been constantly in & out of the shop with this vehicle since the day I brought it home. I mean that very literally, as the car did not even make it from the lot to my driveway without having mechanical issues. The check engine light came on & began flashing & the car ran very rough about half way through my trip home on the day I bought it. It was still under warranty then, so the salesman sent a tow truck to collect it the next day. Turned out to be a coil pack. I get the car back & within a week or two, the ck engine light is flashing & it is running rough again. I was barely still under warranty, so again the salesman had the car looked at on my behalf. This time it was the crank shaft sensor. Fast FW a day or two, & I am having the same issues. So back to the shop it goes. It was the crank shaft sensor again, but the 1st time they put on an aftermarket part, & the 2nd time they used a factory part. Over the next month or two, the engine worked well, but I had to replace the battery cable connectors after the car wouldn't start for me several times while I was out & about around town. Fast FW again to July 2012. I've had the car for 5 months & it has finally seemed to settle down & be working well. My family & I take it on vacation in East TN. We are hundreds of miles & many hours away from home when the ck engine light comes on & the car starts running VERY rough again, like it did in the beginning. This was on the 1st day of our vacation, & we had to waste a whole day finding a mechanic & going to rent a car with our 2 small kids who had been in the car for 7 hours already that day. This time it was yet another coil pack. So we spent over $300 of our vacation money on a mechanic & rental car.

The sales people & staff were plenty friendly, & they never hesitated to take care of the issues we had while under warranty. I have no way to know if they were aware of just how many issues this car had before they sold it to me, so I am not accusing them of sticking me with a lemon on purpose. All I know is, I have had a car for 5 months that has been in the shop more than all of the other vehicles I've owned in my life put together. My husband & I have decided we can't throw any more money into this car. We are planning to get rid of it, even if we lose money on the deal. I can't drive my kids around in a car that I never know if I can trust to get us from points A to B. If you do buy from City Auto, please be smarter than me & do a LONG test drive & go see your mechanic while you are on that test drive.

The Salesmen have NO eagerness to sell cars!!!

I have NEVER been to a car lot where the salesmen walk right pass you as if you don't exist! I had to literally hunt down a saleman to inquire about a car. The first saleman was applying a cityauto sign on the back of a car and he never took the time to look up at me when I was inquiring about a car but he did somehow seem to mention how city auto sales more 600 cars a month. The second guy wasnt to eager to help either, he mentioned they only work by rows. So I decided this was NOT the place I was going to give my business and/or money too. I also noticed that the MAJORITY of there cars had very HIGH MILEAGE and was sold with an "AS IS" WARRANTY which means if the car stops working as soon as you drive off the lot, you are RESPONSIBLE FOR REPAIRING your NEWLY PURCHASED RIDE. I give cityauto 2 thumbs down!!! Be prepared to search and seek out saleman when u drive unto the car lot.

City Auto Sales is an umbrella for 30 different individual contractors, each of them with their own section of the lot. There are individual price stickers with Contractor/salesman names and numbers on every single vehicle. Most people who come in and are appalled at how salesmen arent helping them, are simply unaware of how the dealership works. And yes, used cars may in fact get high-mileage, especially if many of them are trade-ins. There is no way a contractor can personally ensure that a used vehicle will perform the way it was intended straight out of the factory, and as such, it should be pretty easy to see why they cannot put a Warranty on the vehicle. However, many contractors chose to put a limited warranty on some of their used vehicles free of charge of the customer.

Not such a great place to shop

My husband and I were looking for an inexpensive car for our teenage son. Found the perfect car but they were asking too much! After seven weeks of being persistent, playing hide and seek with the car they made a deal. We even saw the carfax. That was mid April it is now mid June and we had to replace the compressor! To the tune of $825.00 dollars! Buyer, be careful even if the car gets a clean carfax.

At City Auto, customers deal directly with the broker who bought or traded for the vehicle for sale. Without a sales manager in the midst of the process, you can be assured that it's the best price!
