Heel pain or plantar fasciitis is a very common problem that Dr. Bass treats. It’s actually the most common foot condition among Americans. The pain usually occurs just behind your heel or underneath it where the Achilles tendon attaches to the bone. It generally begins with mild discomfort then progresses to flare ups and intense pain. This can be severe and sometimes disabling. There are many different treatment options such as injections and orthotics. If heel pain is detected early enough it can be treated successfully with noninvasive treatments. Physical therapy and at-home exercises can also be helpful. If your pain or other symptoms such as swelling, redness or warmth persist we recommend you limit your daily activities. Bunion Surgery
Bunion surgery is usually performed on an out-patient basis which means patients get to go home on the same day of the surgery. Many of our patients start walking on the operative foot within a few days and can return to work within a short period of time. It is our objective to get you back on your feet as soon possible.
Bunions
Bunions are due primarily to genetic factors, but can become painful over time due to trauma, ill-fitting shoes and poor foot structure. What happens, is that the bone connected to the big toe starts to drift outward pushing the big toe sideways into the other toes which can also lead to painful hammertoes, corns and calluses.

Calluses

Dr. Alan Bass earned his Doctorate in Podiatric Medicine in 1993 from the New York College of Podiatric Medicine. He performed his residency at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center. After a few short years, Dr. Bass returned to the New York College of Podiatric Medicine and served as a Clinical Instructor in the Department of Medicine. He also served as the Assistant Director of Enrollment Management. Dr. Bass is also a licensed pharmacist and served as former Director of Pharmacy Services for the Foot Clinics of New York, the largest foot clinic in the world.

Foot Warts
Foot Warts (Plantar Warts) are a common foot condition that we treat in our practice. If you have one or more growths on the bottom of your foot that may or may not be painful, chances are it's a plantar wart.
Plantar Fasciitis
At Central Jersey Foot & Ankle Care, we treat a lot of heel pain or plantar fasciitis. Many of the symptoms include pain when you first get up in the morning, burning, numbness and increased symptoms by the end of the day. The pain is usually caused by tightening of the plantar fascia ligament located on the bottom of the foot. The plantar fascia ligament supports the arch. When you're resting, the ligament contracts. As you start to walk, the ligament pulls and may tear slightly causing pain. Heel pain can also be brought on by trauma, over exertion, ill- fitting shoes or poor foot alignment.
