Emergency Care
Our physicians at AOSMI are available at our Freehold location Monday through Friday from 8 am to 6 pm. We have additional hours at our satellite location in Monroe. With the addition of our Urgent Orthopedic Care service we can usually see patients the same day for urgent needs. In an emergency situation or during off hours we see patients at the emergency room at CentraState Medical Center in Freehold, Raritan Bay in Old Bridge, and Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune.

In addition to recommending specific exercises to improve the flexibility, strength, and mobility of your hip, a physical therapist at AOSMI can utilize therapeutic massage, ultrasound therapy, and other advanced techniques to reduce painful inflammation in your hip joint. Working closely with your physician, your physical therapist can also offer advice on when you can safely and comfortably return to work, sports, and other activities.
MRI
To determine the cause of your hip pain, a physician at AOSMI will discuss your symptoms and medical history and perform a thorough physical examination, which may include a FABER (flexion, abduction, and external rotation) test as well as imaging, such as an X-ray or MRI. Once your diagnosis is confirmed, you and your physician can work together to develop a customized treatment plan, which may involve a combination of therapies.

X-rays of the knee are important to evaluate your anatomy and look for evidence of fractures or arthritis. Sometimes standing X-rays or stress X-rays can yield better information than standard X-rays. MRI of the knee is often essential to diagnose injuries to the cartilage, meniscus or ligaments. After residency, Dr. Elkrief completed a comprehensive Orthopedic Spine Surgery fellowship at Geisinger Medical Center in Pennsylvania.
