Gallatin Public Utilities provides water, natural gas and wastewater services to the residential, business and industrial customers in the city of Gallatin, Tenn. The department provides water services to more than 16,000 customers. Its water treatment plant produces over 6 million gallons of drinking water per day. Gallatin Public Utilities includes water distribution mains, fire hydrants, and water pumping facilities and storage tanks. The department operates a wastewater treatment plant that uses an activated sludge and chlorine disinfection process to treat water. It conducts various laboratory tests to ensure water quality. In addition, Gallatin Public Utilities natural gas system provides service to nearly 11,500 customers.
