My experience with this veterinary hospital was extraordinary! I drove 70 miles to see Dr. Zaslow and his team of boarded veterinary specialists at LVS. They took the time to thoroughly explain Charlie's condition, treatment plan, costs and options. It's obvious the compassion, the love of their patients, the medical expertise and professionalism that make this a Veterinary Hospital that I would recommend to anyone needing specialty care or imaging services. Charlie is a happy dog now wagging his tail daily!

Our 6-year-old papillon Romeo was very lethargic, vomited, etc 7pm Thursday. My vet, gentle care, recommend LVS. They saw him immediately. Money was an issue, we don't have much, but they worked with us & gave him more treatments then we could afford & did not ask us to pay the full amount quoted. . I was crying my eyes out thinking my little dog was going to die because I'm poor. My heart was totally broken! I am eternally grateful to the vet & staff who were wonderful. They all were so kind, patient & understanding. But most of all, they gave us back out sweet Romeo. He still has a bit of follow up & recovery to do but he's still with us & that's all that matters.

I'm sorry about the bad reviews I read & more than sorry to heartbroken pet owners. But I have no complaints with LVS & hope I never have to use them again but if I did I would. Thank you all again & forever for saving my baby

So typical of LVS to say any negative reviews are suspicious and fraudulent. I think some of the positive reviews must be made up or done by employees themselves. I brought my dog to LVS once and never again. The doctors were rude, kept me waiting, didn't offer help, shady money schemes, and when I said I wasn't happy with the service, the vet threatened to find me on the Internet and try to "ruin me." They even asked when I was going to "die of cancer" as they knew I was undergoing my own chemo treatment. This place is NUTS. Stay away!"

This hospital is dirty and the vets are not trained properly and have an attitude. Our female dog in labor was not watched during her stay at LVS. So three out of the four puppies died and one was left permanently handicapped without limbs. They also neutered the mother dog without asking us first and then trying to charge a few thousand dollars for this procedure. The mother dog and one surviving puppy got E.coli among other infections from this place. LVS refused to transfer the medical records to other local vets so the new vets did not know what had happened or where to start in order to try to save the mother and the new puppy's life. I strongly discourage people from bringing their pets there.

My wife and I brought our Bijon Frisee to this clinic this past Monday July 7th. She is a prized AKC dog with whom we went to great expense and time to breed successfully. She was having an uneventful prenatal course and then to our excitement went into labor Monday morning. She had some unusual discharge so we brought her to this clinic. on evaluation, they stated she was fine and to go home and not to worry. later that day, she gave birth to a stillborn and was very lethargic. we again contacted the clinic over the phone, spoke with a different vet, and they said it wasnt necessary to bring her in. they instructed us to watch her carefully and reassured us that everything would be fine. by that evening we had enough and sensed that the dog was possibly in a state of arrested labour. we rushed her to the emergency room and were met by a Dr. Tocci who proceeded to tell us that we essentially were neglectful and that all the puppies should be presumed dead at this point. horrid bedside manner. she then asked us to sign a contract that would give her permission to charge our credit card a maximum of 600 dollars. she ran a bunch of meaningless tests (did a sepsis workup for what reason???) and an xray which she graphically described as showing only parts of some puppies along with dead puppies and a puppy in breach. she told us she was going to run some other tests and that we should go home and wait for her to call. well, she never contacted us. around 11p we were gravely concerned and contacted the clinic. she had proceeded to administer pitocin to induce labor. the puppy that was breech and presumed dead actually was delivered alive. thereafter a stillborn was delivered. we were told that the puppy delivered alive had a guarded prognosis. she would contact us for further details. again, no one contacted us. we found out early that morning that they had contacted my father in law instead of us at 3a, a man who is going through the throes of stage IVc colon cancer on his 2nd round of chemo and "obtained" permission to pursue surgery. we later found out an emergency hysterectomy was performed rendering this champion breed infertile for the remainder of her life. We never were granted any info regarding the clinical rationale behind this horrific decision making. I believe both malpractice and negligence were committed by both Tocci and the other vets earlier in the day who didn't properly sign out to each other nor provide the proper triage for this animal earlier in the day. now we are broken hearted, and the clinic along with Dr. Tocci has been harrassing both my father in law and my wife and I so she can obtain her $3900 fee for the surgery. Absolutely outrageous and disgusting. Dr. Tocci, you should be ashamed of yourself. We are currently pursuing legal action.

our 8 week old puppy fell off the bed seemingly hurtting his right paw. We took the puupy to to Lauderdale Veterniary Specialist. Nursing and front desk Staff was courtious and helpful. Then Lynel Tocci the on staff after hours vet came out to see us. She said offered exrays to verify the pup was ok and asked if i was ok with $245.00 for exrays. i said fine.

She then showed us the exrays of his right elbow and poited out what she said was a floater in his joint and told us he would need to see the orthopedic suregon in their office tomorrow. Dr Bennett. Lynel Tocci then offered to board our puppy for the night (ofcorse for an additional fee) I said no and she said if he boards he will be guaranteed an appoimtment with Dr. Bennet tomorrow, if not we may have to wait two days for an appointment. I said i will not board him and if the ortho cant see him tomorrow i will find one who can. Mysteriously an appointmnt became available. Lynel Tocci went on to tell us she was not sure what the surgial solution was for this injury. Also advied us not to have our puppy eat after midnight as Dr. Bennet had room in his surgical schedule the next day. Apprximately 375.00 later we left beleving our puppy had sustained a serious injury that would ulyimately need surgery to repair.

After our emotions had relaxed both my girfried and i agreed we felt taken advantage of and did not have confidence in what the doctor told us. The next moring we took the puppy to a vet in Boca. the BOca vet look at the exrays from LVS and said they where in adaquate to evaluate the dog because they only show the right elbow. the boca vet took exray of the left elbow. When layed side by side left and right where identical. The bocavet said there is nothing wrong, she removed the splint/bandage form our puppys leg. and he was playing like a puppy ever since. We cancelled the appointment with Dr Bennett. Since we received such opposing diagnososes from the two vets we oppted for a 3rd vets opnion to make sure. The 3rd vet agreed the dog was fine and had nothing wrong.

When tell this horrific story about our experiance with LVS we dound one of our friends had a smilar bad experiance with the same Vet at Lynel Tocci. Common sense would say we are not the only 2.

At a minimum this vet Lynel is incompetent and the worst she is deviovs, dishonest and praying on people, who love thier pets and will do anything regardless of cost to help then, for her and LVS own selfish financial gain Disguesting!!!!!!!

I think my advise would be dont even think about having your pet treated here.

I brought my dog to Lauderdale Veterinary Specialists for the first time when she required after hours emergency care. Just the prior day, someone from the local pet food store provided their number as a "just in case" ER Vet. And I am so thankful for that.

Dr. Stavros treated her that night in ER and Dr. Zaslow the next as her critical care specialist. They both immediately put me at ease and felt great relief knowing my dog was in great hands.

I trust their knowledge, intentions and ability. They communicate directly, yet patiently, so questions didn't linger after leaving the office. I highly recommend them, especially in time when our pets need the BEST care!

Thank you all for taking such good care of my precious baby...

Worse Care Ever. I took my ...

Worse place ever. Lauderdale Verterinary Specialists (http://www.lauderdalevet…) and James Cook. I took my dog there for urgent neurological treatment. No exam, no review or access to records sent prior, wrong diagnosis, no communication, promises not kept. Wasted 10 days of valuable time re my pet's health and my own. Never apologized and refused to refund consultation fee. These guys should not be in business. The below is flat out lies as without anything done at all, they tried to scam into buying a totally unnecessary brain MRI for my dog. The cardiologist did not think the dog's symptoms were from a heart problem but from muscle deterioration -- thus neurological. I did not state anything and the below does not accurately reflect anything about my dog's health or what I said -- his symptoms had only been in place for 1-2 months (not years!), proof of phone messages left just fine, and so on, and so on. I asked about polyneuropathy which Dr. James Cook dismissed entirely. As it turned out, I was right about the polyneuropathy diagnosed by another Neurologist. Instead, these guys tried to sell me an entirely unneeded MRI that would have cost thousands and put the dog through hell for no reason, but since they did no exam and asked no diagnostic questions both of which lead to the correct diagnosis and treatment, they had no clue and were clearly just trying to scam me and unconscionably torture my sick dog. I'm happy to provide proof of everything I've posted, just ask. On behalf of all the victims of this place, be sure to read the many filtered Yelp reviews, note that they rig their Facebook page to delete all negative remarks instead of addressing them -- do NOT risk your pet's life! Be sure to file a complaint with the BBB and state licensing board regarding all their misconduct -- they are truely unbelieveable. http://www.myfloridalicense.com/dbpr/pro/vetm/documents/vet_complaint_package.pdf. These guys are just unethical beyond comprehension.

Ms. Silver was referred originally to a local veterinary cardiologist and by her regular veterinarian. The latter believed her dog “Leo” might have a heart problem. The cardiologist was concerned about other issues and asked me a certified veterinary neurologist, to examine Leo. Ms. Silver brought Leo to Lauderdale Veterinary Specialists on October 8 2012; her complaint was that Leo had a chronic (1-2 year) history of muscle atrophy, exercise intolerance, and an occasional choking noise. The owner also described more recent significant changes in personality and behavior. I,with the assistance of my technician, did a full physical and neurologic exam and reviewed lab data from the referring veterinarian. During the exam Leo did have some diffuse muscle atrophy and while alert and affectionate, seemed to have difficulty staying awake if not stimulated. The owner had a concern about an inherited polyneuropathy identified in Leo’s breed (Alaskan Malamute) and certainly much of his clinical presentation is consistent with that polyneuropathy. However, the mentation changes and sleepiness are much more consistent with an acquired problem within the brain itself such as a tumor or encephalitis. I suggested an MRI of the brain but since there is no MRI currently on site at Lauderdale Veterinary Specialists, I was able locate a locally convenient facility in Tamarac which has recently hired a veterinarian and veterinary technician to do animal studies. Since they only do animals on Tuesday and sometimes on Wednesday, Leo’s next window of opportunity would have been October 16 or 17, 2012. During the days immediately following Leo’s office appointment, Ms. Silver sent several emails requesting discussion of information she had obtained from the internet, which were answered as soon as reasonably possible. Over that weekend on October 13, the staff called me at home as Ms. Silver stated she was impatient and was seeking a second opinion with another veterinary neurologist. Ms. Silver was claiming she had been promised delivery of medical records material which had not been delivered as promised. I asked the staff to re-FAX any pertinent records Ms. Silver might want and to retain a copy of the transmission receipt. I also attempted to call Ms. Silver directly but on the only phone number she provided there was no answer and there was no answering device or service. On Monday October 15 she began sending multiple hostile emails demanding return of the office call fee and making totally (and provably) false claims that I had never examined her dog or reviewed the lab reports, and that I had misdiagnosed her dog. When her emails became hostile and unrelated to Leo’s medical care, they were then directed to the hospital administration. They deemed her request for a refund was inappropriate as I had proceeded in a reasonable and timely fashion and it was her decision to get a second opinion before the MRI was finalized and performed. At this point her emails became threatening and she declared an intent to launch a vigorous internet campaign against Lauderdale Veterinary Specialists and myself. She has filed documentable false accusations on multiple social network sites about the hospital and I. We regret that Ms. Silver was unhappy with her experience at Lauderdale Veterinary Specialists but there was no wrongdoing on the part of the hospital or by myself at any time.
