National Car Rental - Detroit Metro Airport (DTW)

Pros:
-friendly staff
-clean transport buses
-easy contracts/check out with Emerald Aisle
-great selection of vehicles

Cons:
- A couple vehicles were smoked in, had to check several before finding one that did not smell
-the bus driver on my return to the airport was texting and driving, I had to ask him to please put his phone down.
-at return the attendant charged me for gas fill option when my reservation did not have the option included and I delivered the car full of gas (which he checked). I had to call customer service and wait 10 minutes on line to have this corrected. My fault in this was not checking my receipt until the bus ride to the terminal.

Suggestions:
-If you allow smoking in vehicles, then please have designated ones.
-use camera's in the buses on the drivers. If violating safety protocols or traffic laws, then discipline appropriately.
-Allow customers to see a print out of charges before running charges on the hand held scanner, to confirm accuracy.

Wide range of high-end options for Executive Elite status. Customer service is also great; pick up and drop off processes flow pretty quickly.

Except for always waiting for the bus, this is an excellent company and the car selection is great. Thanks

I have been renting from this National location for years, whether business or personal and I have ALWAYS received top notch service and attention. Just this past week, I was looking for a little bit bigger SUV with 3rd row seating. Emerald Aisle attendant personally called out asking for a Chevy Traverse (what I was hoping for) since one wasn't under the canopy... within 3 minutes the rolled one right up to me. This service and attention is what keeps me coming back over and over. A+ for National!

The Detroit Mrtro Airport location always had a good selection of vehicles and good service when need.

As an executive Elite member for National Rental Car and a member of the Auto industry. I use Detroit Wayne International Airport National rental car facility regularly it tends to be very well-stocked and traffic in and out moves very well the cars are always clean there's usually a very good selection of cars and the folks couldn't be friendlier

If you've ever had the opportunity to eat at Chic fil A, you know why they are so successful. They hire good people, with good character, and those employees actually care about the service they are providing to the customer. National has the same business model... the bus driver cares. The gentleman that meets me as I step off the bus, cares. The employees that greet me upon my return, care. "Hire people with good character... you can train them on the other stuff." Great job National!

Great experience! By joining the Emerald Club was able to move up to a premiering car at no extra cost. Car was clean, low miles. Emerald Club made it easy to pick up and drop off. For sure will rent another car from National.

I work for Nissan and need to drive a Nissan. There was none on the lot except for an Altima. I was told that the Altima is not an Emerald selection but next level up. I was in Detriot and all the other locations I frequent the Altima is an Emerald. Regardless a Sentra quickly appeared, clean and the attendent turned it around for me. All employees at checkout and return are always awesome, friendly and remind me to check for all belongings. Pickup and drop off with Emerald status is a breeze. I use National atleast once a month.

Everyone from the shuttle bus driver to the sign out gate agent were very friendly and helpful. The facility, shuttle bus, and cars were all very clean, and in good working order. I have used National Car Rental for about 18 years, and only had one bad event, and that was at Charlotte, NC when my flight was delayed and all the National Car staff went home after I had confirmed a pickup (spent the night in the airport).

This is best car rental agency in the Detroit. wide selection of cars and easy process to check out the car. Little costly for the weekday rentals but so many deals on weekend rentals.

National service at the Detroit airport was fantastic. National is by far the easiest rental car company to do business with and always take care of me. As a business traveler the last thing I want is to have a complication when picking up or dropping off my a car. At 30+ rentals per year, I've yet to have an issue. Thanks National

Easy pick up from Emerald Aisle. Shuttle bus delivered right to the aisle. The airport set up requires a little hike to get to the shuttle buses, but is well marked. The number of National buses could be increased by one for quicker pickup at shuttle stop

National is bar none the best rental car company out there! I love the ease and convenience of the Aisle pick up! It's fast and allows you to pick your own car. This time I was surprised and delighted to be greeted by a friendly employee who offered me bottled water on my way to my car! They are great and I hate it when my company books my car through any other company. Especially the ones that want to spend 1/2 hour walking around the car and trying to be my friend! Thanks for 'getting' business travelers National!

National is the best service at the best price. Only one complaint that applies to ALL rental car companies and the government should get involved with. None of their cars come with real washer fluid for cleaning the windshield. Just water. This is incredible dangerous. I've had to stop many times and buy fluid and spend time draining the reservoir. Someone probably has had an accident already and someone surely will. This is sad and a silly way to save a few dollars.

Dear National, there were no cars available and I was given a red Jetta that had warnings about a flat tire that it did not actually have and also about missing maintenance that I had no idea it was true, very annoying. The lady at the counter was ok, the shuttle driver was very attentive and courteous. i been always a National customer but this leads me to try other providers
