Michael Gainey is definitely a master! He came out to my apartment and worked on my grandfather clock that my father had built back int he 1980s. I've had this clock for 9 years now and had it serviced twice by the same company but they never got it running correctly and they never explained anything to me the way Michael did. I'm so glad I chose Master Clock Repair for my third time getting my dad's clock serviced. Michael was on time, efficient, and extremely knowledgable. I will never go back to that other company. Mike Gainey is THE BEST in the business! I recently inherited a grandfather clock and he has come to the rescue to make sure it keeps working in perfect order. While it had stopped several times, he has made multiple trips (gratis!) to get it back on track.

If your in a hurry, don't bother. My restoration was 8 mos in the making and I was not in a hurry. Michael took a turn-of-the-century International Time Recorder punch clock that had not run in 40 years and made it beautiful. Unbeknownst to me mice had used the bottom part of the clock to nest and some died in the same location. I am proud to display the lovely clock in my home. It keeps great time and is a sight to behold. I don't believe anyone could have done a better job.

There is no doubt that Mike is the best around. I have had other people work on my clocks but fail in comparison to the quality of work that he does. He is an expert and is meticulous about the quality of work he does.

I recently had Mike come out to my house for repair and maintenance on my grandfather clock. Mike was courteous, very knowledgeable and best of all, patient with me and answered all my questions. My poor clock had the most pitiful Westminster chime that you have ever heard with a hesitant largo tempo and inappropriate tones and an occasional clunk.



After expertly removing the face plate and hands and oiling all the cups and checking the true of the rods, Mike put my clock back together.



The clock now didn't "clunk" any more and seemed fine until he tested the chime. The pace of the Westminster tune was now an appropriate allegro, but the tune was off. Mike said "now this is interesting ... I haven't heard this before" and opened the clock again and dived into trying to discover why the tune was "off" as if starting on an adventure. Needless to say, he soon discovered the problem, fixed it in a wink, tested the chime and that being successful, put the clock back together.



Mike moved my clock back into position, leveled the clock and even attached a vibration damper on the back of the cabinet so that now when I walk by the clock on my old 1890's creaky hardwood floor, it doesn't rattle the pendulum or bang the rods.



Mike is an expert and you can tell that he enjoys his work. I highly recommend him to anyone who needs repair or just maintenance on their treasured time pieces. I could swear that after Mike left, I looked at my clock and it appeared to be standing a foot taller and straighter while singing a very happy tune.

After years of frustration, I have finally found a competent clock repair expert. Michael is experienced and thorough and was able to figure out what was causing our old grandfather clock to malfunction. He also repaired our Cuckoo clock, something most other repair shops won't touch. Thank you Michael!

Mike from Master Clock Repair came to my house on time and cleaned and set up my clock in a timely manner (pun intended). He was very friendly and answered all of my questions and all of this was done for a very reasonable price.

Masterpiece (or chef d'œuvre) in modern usage refers to a creation that has been given much critical praise, especially one that is considered the greatest work of a person's career or to a work of outstanding creativity, skill or workmanship.



Originally, the term masterpiece referred to a piece of work produced by an apprentice or journeyman aspiring to become a master craftsman. Mike has serviced everyone of my 15 key-wound mechanical clocks. He restored a Herschede chiming clock purchased in 1924 by my great-grandfather.



Mike approaches every service and repair as if that clock is the masterpiece he is required to create for admission to a guild of master craftsmen. He explains the process in terms a layperson can understand. Mike is very honest and will tell his customer if the cost of repair will be more than the retail value of the clock. His knowledge, professionalism and obvious love for his craft make him the man to seek out to work on your clock.

Mike did a wonderful job getting me my clock. I had purchased a grandfather curio clock that was damaged in shipment. The clock was taken to Mike and he made all the repairs necessary and interacted with the supplier on my behalf. He then delivered the clock and set it up. Gave instructions in a consise easy to understand manner. Will definitely be using Master Clock repair for all my clock needs

Mike has had long training and is meticulous in his work, but his most valuable asset is his honesty. We took our late 1800s mantel clock to him for repair after having it overhauled at another shop. He indicated he would have to look closely at the works before making a diagnosis. Upon examination he telephoned to say he had found teeth on several wheels damaged. His charges have been fair and the clock has worked acurately since our visit. His explainations are instructive, helping us understand why repairs are needed.

When our family table and wall clocks of many years stopped working, we took both in to see if anything could be done. Master Clock Repair was quickly displayed their knowledge in identifying and explaining our clock problems and provided us with options as to how we could resolve our clock problems. The service was great and the price very reasonable. Best of all our clocks are keeping perfect time.

I have a clock that my late father bought in Germany when he served there in the early 60's and it means the world to me and Master Clock Repair has always done great work for me at a fair price to keep it running!

I own an antique American grandfather clock. We are located in FL and could find no one capable of repairing it in our area. I went on line and talked to numereous clock makers none of whom felt they could repair the clock. Finally I talked to Mike at Master Clock Repair who said he felt he could do the job even if parts had to be fabricated. The clock was shiped to Ohio, the repairs were made , the clock was tested for a month at Mikes shop and shipped back two weeks ago. I reinstalled it and its work perfectly.



Mike was able to do what no one else was capable of or willing to try to do - fix the clock. We now have a wonderful antique grandfather clock that keep perfect time. Thanks again Mike
