I came here because of the high reviews this place has garnered on Yelp. I liked the food, but didn't see anything so out of the ordinary to give the place five stars.
It seems to be a one man shop where you order at the counter and take out food. There are a few tables inside if you're inclined to eat there (as I was).
I had fried chicken with pinto beans and cole slaw. They have a menu posted on a board next to the counter where you order. There were about eight or so main dishes and you get two sides with each main dish.
The fried chicken was three wings. This was explained to me in advance and I should have probably chosen something else since wings don't have so much meat on them but I went ahead since I wanted fried chicken and hadn't had it for a while. It came out fresh from the cooker very hot, and was moist and pretty good. The beans and cole slaw were also good, but I didn't see anything special.
I think this is just a very nice takeout place for southern style food with very reasonable prices (mine was $8.99).
I had to worst experience in this restaurant last week I have ever had. The owner is very rude. You can not make any changes in the menu except what he wants you to have. I ordered the ribs and the lunch comes with corn that I was told 15 minutes after I ordered they did not have. I ask if I could substitute a small salad. The waitress let me know 10 minutes later when she brought my food that he (the owner) would bring my corn. When he sat it on the table he rudely said I hope this is enough. The corn was not completely cooked. I ask the waitress to ask the owner to come see me when she brought the bill. I simply ask him what did he mean by his statement. He became very irate and even started taken his apron off. Too bad this has happened this restaurant.
I absolutely love this place. My husband and I go there at least twice a month...sometimes more when we can sneak in a lunch together. It is beautifully decorated, each table has a very intimate feeling to it, the wait staff is courteous and attentive, and the food is out of this world. I recommend the mountain salad with grilled salmon. Also, the reuben and the grilled portabella sandwich will be something you crave often.
This is a great rest., good food, a bit pricey, but still great atmosphere.
