OKAY this is an update.

After I wrote this review, the owner called me and apologized. She said they will give him a bath at no cost next time he is in and that they will make sure he's clean. I must say that they did bathe him but he still had the knots. I think I will keep boarding him here but I will not have them groom and bathe him. The second bath was better but not as it used to be. All in all their service is good and they have good pricing. I will return and keep updating.



**********It used to be the best kennel in town BUT lately their service has been going downhill. Last time i picked up my dog, I noticed he was wet and smelled awful! He was also very thirsty. I talked to the lady upfront and she told me it was because he was playing with other dogs outside and the floor was wet? I still don't think a two day stay should have him smelling this bad, but things happen, so I let it go because I've always liked their service. This weekend I left my dog for two days and asked to bathe and groom him. They called around one to ask if we also wanted to have them take off some knots he had so I said "yes" and therefore he was going to be ready after 3 o'clock. Today he was picked up around 4. How on earth does he smell so foul if they just bathed and groomed him a few hours ago? He was stinky, still had knots around his legs AND even looked dirty. When the girl upfront was told about this all she did was spritz some scented spray on him. I can't believe how bad their service has gotten. To make things worse, as soon as I gave him water and food to drink he ate and drank like there's no tomorrow. He went through three bowl of water! I wasn't satisfied with these last two times I brought my dog in and I don't think I will give them another chance. I'm sure there's better places closer to town.

Cowen's is a great place to board your dog if you realize that your dog is an animal and not a furry child. This is not a hotel for four legged guests. It is a kennel and it is a very good one. The staff members are always very friendly and the facility is kept clean. If you're looking for someplace to go with webcams and air conditioning you can find those places, and you will pay dearly for them. If you simply want your dog to be well cared for and safe without spending more on your pet than on yourself every day, Cowen's is the place.



The complaints I read on here giving the facility 1-star are ridiculous--seek some perspective in your life.



Oh, and my dog said he loves it too.

I was so happy when I picked up my 3 dogs after they were groomed here. They were very well-groomed and all looked fluffy and adorable - I loved the added touch of the bandanas! The price was the lowest of the many groomers I've tried, but they did the best job! Going back again this weekend.

We drive from Los Angeles to keep our dogs here. It's clean and cheap and they get to be outside all the time. We have challenging dogs and they are always well taken care of and we certainly appreciate them!

If I could give it zero stars I would. My husband and I did not get a good feeling about this place when we walked in and so we walked right back out after talking briefly with the owner. He was not pleasant at all. Never smiled. Why in the world would we leave our dogs in his care?? Our friends have used this kennel in the past and they were not very happy either. Find another facility if you can!

I'm very unhappy with the way my dog was groomed. I probably could of done it better myself. Don't see anything that was done but shaved my puppies head and face she looks so depresse

Our two dogs were wet and reeked of urine when we picked them up. They are normally very laid back and easy going but they nearly ripped our arms off trying to get out of that place. They are kept in WET kennels the entire time which is extremely uncomfortable for your dogs paws. I had to shampoo my dogs THREE times to get the smell of ammonia out of their fur. The office also reeks of pee. All of the dogs looked unhappy when we went there. We should have listened to our gut instinct and taken them some where else. The hunt continues for a nice affordable kennel. Have used Fur and Feathers and they are wonderful if you have the extra money to spend.

This is the place to take your pet when you have to be gone from home. The staff makes you feel like your animals needs (or yours) are being met. We feel totally at ease everytime we go away knowing our baby is being well taken care of. Our dog truely seems to enjoy going and is tired but happy when we pick him up!! A big plus considering their prices are the best we have found for what we get.
