Project Description: This Project included the Painting of Restrooms, Interior & Exterior, along with pavilions. All products used were Sherwin Williams with 2 coats of rust inhibitive primer selected for use on metal roofing areas at the restrooms and pavilions. Surface Preparation was a large focus on this project with different areas of attention needed, involving Cinder & Concrete Block, Interior & Exterior Drywall, & Galvanized Metal. This Project occurred during the Summertime Visitor Season at the Beach which had constant Pedestrian Traffic in and out while work was being conducted so, Safety was always maintained every moment for the welfare of the visitors as well as the employees.

Project Description: This project was located at the park headquarters off of Lafayette Rd in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia. It consisted of the replacement of 3 HVAC units that provided an end result of adequate heating, cooling and humidity control to achieve tenant comfort. Green fiber R60 Cellulose Insulation was blown in at the attic where the HVAC units were located. Installation of attic stairs per manufacturer’s guidelines as well as framing the attic stair opening was provided with finished trim, caulking and painting.

Project Description: This Design/Build project consisted of the construction of a 160’ x 360’ Pop Warner Football Field for the community along with upgrading a separate practice field and adding accessories. This project involved heavy civil site work, plumbing, adequate drainage, irrigation, chain link fencing, in compliance ADA parking lot, ADA walkways around the entire facility. The proper sodding of both fields which is under the strict guidelines of ASBA (American Sports Builder Association). This project also included facility amenities such as goal posts, bleachers, an ADA regulated press box and a state of the art concession stand which included a wired full kitchen set-up complete with cabinets and a separate exterior lift station.
Excavation
As the contractor we obtained all required permits, including excavation, environmental, transportation etc. before starting the work. We created access by upgrading the current access road to the site to enable construction equipment and transport vehicles access. This involved removal of some trees (approved in advance by the park) grading the existing gravel road and fortifying the stream ford. This work was temporary in nature and was removed and/or minimized at the end of the construction.
Retaining Walls
In 1940, during the initial construction of the park headquarters and other visitor facilities the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) constructed the masonry walls. Many areas along the wall are showed significant deterioration. The stones were breaking apart leaving significant voids in the wall, which were affecting the structural integrity of the wall. The deteriorating stones are creating an unsightly appearance of the wall for those visiting the park headquarters. To correct the problem, we replaced the deteriorated stones and repointed all of the joints in the wall. These features are contributing features to the cultural landscape of the park. Our repair will preserve these historic assets and provide for continued integrity of the retaining wall.
Walkways
The Kings Mountain NMP Headquarters Building was constructed in 1941 with CCC labor. The flagstone walkways follow the footprint of the building around the north, south, east, and part of the west exterior. A wide flagstone walk joins the main entrance and the main park drive. Some of the flagstone were flaking and mortar joints cracking and breaking loose from stones. In many locations the stones settled into the base causing a trip hazard. This project involved minor repairs to the walkways around the Headquarters building that lead to the parking lot. The work included taking up flagstone as needed, repairing the base, and replacing flagstone in its original pattern. The park remained open to the public, safety was our number one priority to insure a quality and safe project.

Residential Roof Repair
Project Description: This project consisted of the replacement of roofs on the Historical Structures of the Curatorial, Maintenance, and Pump Buildings as well as grinding and resealing concrete surfaces for proper drainage. We are using the ECOSTAR product with Majestic faux slate shingles along with ECO vent ridge venting. These materials were recommended since they offer an environmentally, lightweight alternative to traditional slate roofing manufactured from 80% post-industrial recycled rubber and plastic. Majestic Slate tiles provide enhanced resistance to harsh weather conditions including wind, driving rain and hail. All work was performed while the facility continues to receive over 500-700 visitors daily. Safety of the guests and personnel was paramount. Safety measures were taken throughout the projects with no incidents reported.
Residential Roof Replacement/Installation
Project Description: This was a Double Security Site project by the water in Kings Bay, GA. Rehab, repair and the replacement of the Shadow-Rib metal to a rusted existing Coast Guard storage building. This included the walls around the building, roofing of the building, including doors, repairing and replacement of metal purlins (which could not be repaired), where needed. Dunmar’s solution to rehab the building was a huge cost savings to the Naval Base and Coast Guard. Dunmar followed up with an elastomeric coated roof and Bond Plex paint material on the walls and doors. This work was ongoing without the building being shut down, so safety was a priority and maintained at the proper areas contained and guided by Dunmar staff.

Project Description: The project included the design and rebuild of the roof which had structural issues and needed a rebuild so a new metal roof was installed where the corners were reframed, RTU replaced, Snow guards put in place and insulation laid throughout the entire building for EnergyStar Energy Efficiency. Since this project is considered the first revolutionary roofing system of the southeast, a Photovoltaic system was added to make this building energy efficient with its grid-tied panels for Electrical Cooling & Heating capabilities, electrical upgrades, a Lithium Ferro Phosphate Battery backup system to maintain optimal conditions in both winter & summer which will result in ultimate savings to the National Park Service for years to come.
