Fry Asphalt

Dan Fry and Zontae D. Fleming asphalt work together and did not finish the work on the deck and painting they were doing on my building. I have called and emailed for 1 year with excuses and not show. They also ruined the material for the deck and railing. I have to buy new and have someone else installing correctly. I even had an engineer draw up plans which they did not follow. They painted my windows shut and got black tar on my office carpet. I was very disappointed. !!!!

We hired Daniel Fry to install a drainage in our driveway. He came and picked up the deposit, made 2 cuts in our driveway and never returned to finish the job. Over a period of 4 months, many phone calls, texts and emails were sent. Most o f the time he wouldn't respond, but when he did, he would give us many excuses for not showing up. We haven't gotten our deposit back after numerous of attempts of contacting him, just one excuse after another. We had to hire another asphalt company to do the job along with having a driveway repaved due to the water getting down in those 2 cuts he made. Our driveway started to dip and several thousand dollars later our driveway was fixed. Please do your research, i wasn't the first person he done this too. At this time several other people have filed with the general attorney's office and the BBB.

Fry Asphalt is horrible. We should have read the reviews before we contacted them. He seemed professional and legit when we first contacted him and when he took our deposit... and then he disappeared. Our family has not been able to get our deposit back for months and services have never been rendered. His PA business license is expired and he is not accredited by the BBB. Isn't it a crime in PA to promote contractor services without an active business license? Based on what I have read online so far I am guessing that I can kiss my money goodbye, but I'll try everything I can to get it back.

In April 2015, Daniel Fry gave us a great estimate for driveway repair services and asked for a deposit. We were still getting estimates, and Daniel Fry said he would match any other estimate. We reluctantly gave him a deposit check that he said he would not actually deposit until the date of our service. He deposited it the same day.



Other contractors informed us that Fry Asphalt scams customers by requesting deposits and then does not return to do the work. We researched his business and discovered:



1. Fry Asphalt is not actively licensed in Pennsylvania

2. Fry Asphalt claims to be accredited by the BBB, but he is not. The BBB clearly states that this business has never been accredited and, in fact, the BBB has claims against him.



We immediately called Daniel and requested a refund. After several days of putting us off, he said that he would not refund us. We have reached out the BBB, PA Attorney General, and filed a civil suit against this company. Fry no longer answers our emails, phone calls, and is completely evasive.



Beware - do not contact Fry Asphalt EVER.

Fry asphalt came to reveiw the work I wanted done. May I say for free also, he beat 3 other written estimatse. He kept me informed on the whole job, his crew arrived 15 mins. Early, were very perfessional, did an expert job and provided oversight the intire job. When they where finished. They cleaned up their mess thoroughly.i would use fry asphalt again. My neighbors complimented me on the work and requested there phone number.

It would be impossible for me to be any more disapointed with my experiance with Fry Asphalt. I hired Dan to pave my drivway in the Fall of 2014. I paid in full for the project and the work was never completed. Dan informed me that if I had any issues with the job to call him back and he would return to correct/fix. He has failed to return a single phone call, email or text message. Currently I have numerous pot holes, uneven pavement and a driveway that is unfinished. I am happy to provide pictures to anyone who is interested. I would not reccomend this business to anyone.

A year ago, we hired Fry Asphalt to put the top coat on our driveway. As our warranty period was coming to a close, we had a couple of issues to attend to. Within 15 minutes, I received a response email from Dan Fry, who happened to be out of town for the week. Within a couple of hours, I received a call from someone saying that one of your crews was finishing up a job , and would be able to be at our home by about 4:00PM that same day.



Jim showed up at our house with his crew. My husband, was at home when the crew arrived. He was very impressed by Jim's friendliness, professionalism and thoroughness, as well as that of the rest of your crew. She could not say enough good things about the experience. I would like to complement and thank Jim, Chris, Daniel and the crew for handling our request within hours of my email to Jim, and congratulate you for having a top-notch organization. Thanks again for the great quality job as well as customer service. I suggest these folks to anyone gave a great price for the driveway and very down to earth people.

Great estimate very clearly detailed and a awesome price! Dan was very thorough and had some great ideas for our new driveway. The crew did fabulous work on time really took pride in their work, and carefully integrated it with the old work. Would highly reccomend Fry Asphalt to anyone else. Very clean cut friendly fellers. The big crew made the job go very quickly and I was very impressed.

DO NOT USE fry asphalt. They are crooks and have poor business practices. Job was not completed properly, Daniel Fry was left multiple messages without a response, finally got ahold of him and he said he would be present at a certain time and never showed, mailbox was "full" when I tried to call back. Job still has not been completed in a month, but he cashed his check immediately. BEWARE. I would give 0 stars as a review but you have to pick one. BBB contacted and now address has changed.

BEWARE!!!! Unless you are a major company, Fry Asphalt will try and scam you. They came to my home on 6/27 and since they knew we wouldn't be home, they decided to lay asphalt (WHAT THE CITY USES TO FILL POTHOLES) on top of rocks & tarp that was already down. They did NO excavation like their invoice/warranty has. I was told they came w/ NO machines and left in about an hour or two. On the 29th I left Daniel a message and that Mon @ 2:36 pm he responded w/a text message saying he would be in touch. It's the 7th and still no response. I had a cookout on the 5th and after we removed the chairs & there were holes lefted behind. I truly thought this business was legitimate. I wish I didn't have to pick NO stars. On July 7th I hired Daniel Fry to fix holes in my driveway and seal coat it. On the 8th the "patch" work he did was sunk down or out and the seal coat was washed away. Every attempt to contact him has failed. Run away don't walk if he comes to do your driveway.

A few weeks ago, my boyfriend and I set out to have our driveway expanded and sealed to avoid to ever-agonizing routine of playing merry-go-round with our two cars. We'd gotten a couple people to come out and give estimates, including Fry Asphalt's Daniel Fry. Daniel made mention that he needed to fill a time slot because someone had cancelled the following day. We read great reviews on Google and decided to go for it, he offered a similar price compared to the other estimates. He came the next day while my boyfriend and I were out working and running errands. When my boyfriend came home to write the check, Daniel told him that he wanted cash to pay his workers for the day--which had only been tentatively discussed before the deal was made. We made plans to meet at the bank, took out the money, and paid Daniel. We ran out of daylight to make sure the job had been done to our standards. The following day we discovered a patch bigger than a men's size 11 shoe in the middle of the newly expanded driveway; the sealant coating on the existing driveway was peeling; the expanded driveway wasn't level with the existing driveway, it was raised a good 1.5" compared to the other driveway. We called Daniel, who rarely answers his phone, to have him come fix it as the work is covered under a two-year warranty. The next week they resealed the driveway and told us that the asphalt would settle to the same height as the other driveway and that there was nothing they could do about the patch job. After he left we looked at the job, when we discovered sealant splashed up onto our siding, garage door, and the pavers that we'd just bought to edge around the flowerbeds, the sealant peeling up (yet again), and asphalt peeling up revealing the rock bed underneath. For the next week we battled to get Daniel on the phone in which Daniel, being the professional businessman that he is, thought it'd be best to TEXT us. Daniel told us he'd be out to look and fix the problem on Friday 6-27 between 1 and 2:30. At 3:30 we received a text from Daniel saying that he got stuck at a job and he would be over after 5:30. But he's all talk, he never showed and told us he'd be by the next day. We told him that we'd already switched around our plans of a beach day from Friday to Saturday that way we could be home to show him what was wrong. He insisted that we didn't need to be there and that he would get it done. We ended up cancelling our beach plans to stay home and wait all of Saturday for him to show up. After several phone calls and hours ticking by, Daniel never showed up or called back. This has been the worst experience that we've dealt with when contracting people to do work on our house. We would never recommend them to even our worst enemies. Daniel Fry is completely unprofessional in that he doesn't show up when he says he will, answer phone calls, and TEXTS his clients.

Had some work done and was really happy. Even helped me move some junk in the backyard for free! Really impressed -Chris
