Normally my visits here are fine! Great! Today was a nightmare! The Visit Was To Remove My IUD which which ended up being an awful torturing experience! First a very professional PA preformed my annual and a very patient attempt to remove the appliance but wasn't able to find it. She Gave Me The Option To reschedule or allow the physician to come in. I chose to have the Dr come in. I mean hey that's what I was there for. As he came in he brought with him the PA, the nurse of course and a student. Not one time did he ask me if it was okay to allow the student to stay in the room. That I felt was disrespectful and unprofessional. I mean it was my legs that were wide open on the table. Isn't that uncomfortable enough. Now I have an audience. After fishing and poking around he couldn't get it out. Having to grab a ultrasonic machine to locate the IUD which the nurse had to apply Extreme pressure to my lower abdominal area. HURT!! So much cramping and pain and still no IUD.

Finally I had enough. The pain got too bad and decided to stop. I rescheduled for another day. And of course they will bill me twice now.

Also while setting in the room trying to gather myself together from the horrific experience, I hear two women who were in the room very clearly talking about how horribly traumatic the IUD removal is and they would never get it.

REALLY!!! You are gonna talk like that right outside my door!!!

Now I'm home with all this bleeding and slight cramping which no one warned me about.

Like i said at the beginning I normally have a better experience at this office but today everyone was not on there game. I know these things weren't intentionally done but they do need improvement which everyone have room for.

13 years ago my daughter was b...

13 years ago my daughter was born and Dr Valaoras was my Dr during my pregnancy and of course he was my Dr to the end and after. He was and still is professional..I quit seeing him for a while because the receptionist at that time was very rude, but this year I decided to seek Dr Valaoras again.. I am glad I did..He made me feel important and I should be and ladies trust me you want somebody like him on your pregnancy. Now dr Lewis is another! Few years after I had my daughter and you know yearly follow up, Dr Valaoras could not make it for my yearly checkup so Dr Lewis was the replacement ... Well honest to goodness while lying there with my legs open and he was checking my breasts for abnormalities, I was very uncomfortable, but I know and I am sure he didn't do it in purposed. ... That's what I was trying to say with Dr Valaoras... He was very professional and it should be like that, not to say that Dr Lewis wasn't.

Oh you know what else? He called me personally what my blood work results. That my friend I never experienced with other Drs... Thank you Valaoras for making me feel special while in your care ! A rare dr to have :)

Overall

I went to this practice at 20 weeks because my formal doctor had to leave for a project and I didn't care for the replacement. the waiting on the office were too long but I overlooked because it was only two doctors and no like other practices that are 6 or more. Everything went well until the last few weeks.

I had gestational diabetes, and I was inseminated so I knew exactly when the pregnancy accrued. The doctor did ultrasounds at 37 weeks and knew that the baby was on the bigger size, he did another one at 39 and conformed the suspicions, but still waited until 41.5 weeks to induce!!! he separated the membrane without telling what he was doing, but as I have knowledge of the procedures I knew right away.

at the hospital I never dilated despise the high amount of medicine, because I wasn't even efface. he stripped the membrane while doing an exam and didn't asked me if that was ok, that was so unprofessional. then after 35 hours into the induction I was 30% efface and 2cm dilated and he wanted to try for 12 more hours to see what happened. I was so tired and frustrated that I had to refuse everything from that point on and demand a cesarean, it was obvious that vaginal wasn't happening. finally he did it but of course with an attitude that wasn't pleasant.

after that he never went to see me at the room, he sent Lewis who supposed be my delivering doctor at first but he decided to give me to Valaoras at the end.

I wouldn't go to this doctors again!!!!! save yourself a bad memory and find another on.

Disgusted

Dr. Lewis was great through my pregnancy, although Dr. Valaoras doesn't have a good bedside manner. He made me feel as though I was taking up his time until he got to his next patient. I was actually disappointed to see him in the delivery room instead of Dr. Lewis when my son was born. Dr. Valaoras also inserted my Mirena IUD and told me at the time he had cut the strings short and he would have to do a special procedure to get it out. (I have been told five years later now that he cut them short b/c sexual partners tended to complain if they could feel the strings. I wish I were given the option at the time, that's discriminatory toward women in my opinion.)

In the meantime, I've had to have an ultrasound when my regular physician couldn't find the strings to my IUD and my insurance wouldn't cover this, so that was $400 out of pocket. Currently, my IUD needs to come out in a couple of months and I am without insurance. The health clinic downtown found my IUD but was unable to properly grasp the strings for removal. Dr. Valaoras and the business manager informed me I could come in for an ultrasound and scope removal, again out of pocket, at an estimated reduced rate of $300.

It's very frustrating and disgusting to know this could have been avoided if I were told why strings would be cut short and given the choice not to. I entrusted a "professional" with the most joyous experience of my life, and five years later feel totally disgusted and betrayed by someone who I thought was "on my team."

My experience has not been so ...

My experience has not been so great with them. Dr. Lewis seems okay & more professional but Dr. V tried inserting an IUD contraception without even checking the position of my uterus first (it is backwards), so he had trouble trying to get it in & was even attempting to force it. I ended up bleeding very badly & had to come back in to get it fixed. I used it for about 5 years. I am now unable to conceive! It is very heartbreaking for me & I believe it is due to the mishaps with the IUD contraception. I feel if he had been more careful it might still be okay for me to have children.

Great Doctors!!

I met Dr. Valaoras and Dr. Lewis last summer, and through my entire pregnancy they were great. Office staff is also great. I chose to go to them, because I found other offices to have more than 10 doctors, didn't really get to know anybody. I recommend these doctors to anybody. I see the website that is on the ad is not not working, so here is the website: http://www.valaoraslewis.com/
