The absolute best chicken fry in the world.

My husband and I moved to Winfield a year ago and Kathryn's is our favorite restaurant. The food has always been well above average and the specials are varied - it is obvious that the chef enjoys the art of cooking and has high standards. This is not a "fast food" restaurant - you will enjoy homemade bread, quality food, and a wonderful ambiance of a beautiful old building. We are very picky about eating out so really enjoy having this restaurant nearby. We go there about once a week. Highly recommend it.

We've been twice, once for lunch the next for dinner. I was a bit disappointed that the dinner entrees were not available until after 5pm. My husband is a day sleeper so is seldom awake at dinner time. Lunch was very good. The fattoush salad was yummy and their hummus is some of the best I've had. The pita bread tasted home made, I'm not sure if it's made on site but it tastes Very fresh. Service was good considering we were two of six customers.

The dinner experience was like we had walked into another establishment. The were not by any stretch busy so the bad service had no excuse. It was a special occasion for us. The painful experience made what should have been a romantic date night frustrating. The the waitress forgot our salads and then seemed to forget us all together. When the entree arrived it was beautifully presented but was so salty I wondered what they were trying to hide. The fresh vegetables were very fresh and the mashed potatoes where hand mashed with skins on which is great. The only up side of the experience.

It doesn't matter if it's in our cherished little town of Winfield or NYC, In a restaurant touting the fine dining moniker, good food and service should be the norm not the exception. There are several other restaurants in Cowley county that offer a similar menu. Kathryn's needs to have a refresher training or a culling to their waitstaff or they will go the way of other "fine dinning" restaurants.

Great food w/ variable service. Love the crab cakes and the lasagna! The meatloaf is pretty wonderful, too. I've had really fast service there, but it can be inconsistent. Don't go if you are in a hurry! But . . . If you have time to relax and savor your food, it's definitely worth the wait!

Great Food! Amazing presentation of the dishes and much better than anything else in Winfield. The environment is great and very classy. The new bar is very well made and they have a great stock of beer and wine. Cannot wait to go back and will make all of my reservations for business meetings there, from now on. Great restaurant!

dont waste your time or money. the food i got was awful. the waiter ignored my request for only cream sauce on the meat. it was covered in red green and yellow peppers and onions. upon taking one bite of this it tasted burned. i turned the meat over and it was burned black on the bottom the cook tried to cover up this mistake instead of fixing it right. the asparagus was raw and served with rubbery pecans...YUCK AWFUL FOOD no apologies from anyone in fact my friend had to get up and get his own coffee...sad winfield needs better dining..but if this is what kathryns has to offer im not impressed ......
