Worst experience ever! I brought my husband in for chest pains. The nurse on duty automatically assumed he was on drugs. Wrong! He was having a heart attack.

Overall

When I arrived there was a long wait, however, because of my symptoms they took me back right away and put me in a bed in the hallway. I was fine with that. My nurse Brad was good, the Dr. on was great and listened and was very respectful and patient. All the sudden a lady, I guess a nurse, comes through the hallway shouting to the nurses that they needed to hurry and discharge or admit patients because there was a long wait. She kept on and on and it was INCREDIBLY unprofessional how rude she was being. She came up to me and asked if the Dr had discharged me yet. I told her no. She comes back a few mins later yelling again about the same thing. At that time the Dr told me I could go home. She VERY rudely comes up and shoves a thermometer in my mouth and jabbed it under my tongue not paying a BIT of attention to what she was doing. I shouted "OUCH" at her. Her response was "Sorry baby". Then she starts just ripping stuff off me that was connected. Her whole attitude was horrible and unprofessional. I REALLY hope she wasn't the charge nurse. I wish I would have got her name. My nurse Brad asked me if I was okay and gave me my discharge papers and told me he would be right back to go over them with me. She comes back over to me and comments, "Now you done messed them up and I gotta find the page for you to sign". I just looked at her because I didn't even touch them. They were handed to me and I placed them on the bed. I had to ask if I could leave and nobody really acknowledged me at all. Then she starts in on another tech because apparently she "lost" my vitals. I just walked out at that point. I was in shock. I REALLY wish I would have gotten her name because I was going to call and complain. Nobody that miserable should work there. Especially with sick patients. You can't act that way to the patients. When you get in such a rush that you physically hurt someone, there is a problem. I used to work at a hospital and you suck it up and smile to make sure the patient is comfortable. If I need to go to the ER ever again, it will not be at Barrow.

Awful

No privacy, lack of compassion, no regard for wait time, inconsiderate, dirty and list would go on.

disgusiting!!!

Disgusting nasty old hospital. My husband was brought in by an ambulance.. and sat in a hallway after a car accident for over an hour without anyone ever speaking to us! He was on a board on a stretcher with a neck brace on and in pain and no one cared because it was shift change. The rooms are unsanitary, nasty. The hospital needs to be checked by the state or the board. It's gross! Don't let your loved ones go there. I will never make that mistake again.

worst hospital dont risk your life there

I went to er due to kidney stones i passed 1 at home, so yes the pain was at its peak. I get there with my husband and first at registration the female there asked me,if,ive been there before i said no and she was like i have your insurance on file already so i was puzzled since it was first time there so she gives me my arm band and the name was totally different than me. So i tell her and she gets offended so yes the insurance on file was not mine. Then i am taken to my "room" a stretcher in the hallway at that point i was puking my guts out and in severe pain so the nurse comes and takes my blood pressure and its 187 she didn't even bother to think that i could pass out do to high blood pressure or die. I am allergic to muscle relaxants due to the nsaids in then as well as naproxen and ibuprofen i tell her and she goes and 15 mins later comes with a shot i ask her what is it and she says its an nsaid toradol i freak out cause i get severe hives and tell her AGAIN i cant take that she gets really mad and tells me that its a liquid form of nsaid and she is going to give me the shot in the bathroom since i dont have a room to make this short i declined the shot nurse got very nasty didn't get anything for pain or nausea the doctor named ogoguo or something like that refused to give me anything med wise even though my bp was at a high 187 due to pain. Got xray and had 2 more stones and only gave me 2 tylenols and after 5 hours in pain there i left didnt even told them, i was done.

Myself and Fiancee went to the...

Myself and Fiancee went to the ER last week. We both have medical training but new to the area. Im a graduate in Emergency Medical Technician, and she is in school to be a RN. We were back in a room rather fast for the medical issue we had, however thats when it all went to crud. Patients on stretchers in the hallways of the overcrowded ER, and the cleanliness of the ER was HORRIBLE. The bed in the room we were in had blood all over the bottom of it, and the chair in the room had once had blood all over it. Apparently after cleaning it the stain remained so they left it in the room (if they had even tried to clean it). Very very nasty, if we had more time and knew this prior to going to Barrow we clearly would have went to ARMC, or Northeast Georgia Medical Center.. both much nicer, cleaner facilities. I have been in both ER's and general areas of the hospitals, so Im speaking to comparing apples to apples. I hear mixed reviews about Gwinnett Medical Center, but anything would be better than Barrow. Trust me as a EMT-I, how clean a facility is kept reflects on how you can or cannot contract pathogens.

Do not go to this hospital whatsoever! Unless you literally want to DIE! this is the WORST hospital ever to go to! I haven't understood why they haven't closed down yet! Go to Gwinnett Medical Or Athens Regional. ANYWHERE BUT HERE!!!!!! They have the worst customer service. Their employees seemed to have not known anything. its filthy & the Doctors and Nurses seemed to have not have a clue of what to do as well!

the worst hospital ever not on...

the worst hospital ever not only is every room filthy. they have patients in the hallway in the e.r. discussing their personal info out loud. i went there with kidney stones and the nurse freaked out because i was in pain and had another nurse come help me instead. the African doctor was a complete nimrod. refused to give me pain meds until after cat scan which took two hours. i would not take my worst enemy to this so called hospital.

They were good for me!

I had an episode of chest pain and my heart rate was doing some wierd things, speeding up on it's own, stuff like that. I went in through the ER, they had me in back in 30 seconds, got me hooked up to the monitors, gave me aspirin and another drug to make my heart work more effectively, and as I asked questions about what they were doing, they knew the answers. The doctor explained what he was doing and prescribing and why. I've been in and out of the medical field for most of life, and they knew what they were doing. Luckily it turned out my heart is ok, but they kept me overnight to run tests to make sure and were even friendly, almost everyone. So I originally got on this site to check ratings because I have to have my gallbladder removed, I'm not sure if I will use them for surgery, given some of the other reviews- but I was very happy with their care.

Unknowledegeable staff

My husband was sent here for a thyroid scan and the lady who was very weird to begin with couldn't even find his thyroid and started asking him if he ever had surgery to have it removed!!!! Seriously??? if he had it removed then why the heck would he be asked to have a thyroid scan in the first place???? then she started asking him personal questions about his tattoos as if that has anything to do with why he was there I wouldn't even send an animal to this place!!! I have heard they prescribe medicine with out checking to see if it is harmful to pregnant women considering they gave a friend of mine something that the pharmacist said that if she had taken it that it would have aborted her baby!!! this place should be shut down!!!!!!!!

GOD AWFUL

I had my son here... and I recommend going elsewhere. The staff is horrible, they are completely unorganized and none of them are on the same page with one another, plus most of the doctors dont even want to be there! Its crazy when you son has both lungs collapse because of 36 hours of labor and then an emergancy c-section and the nurses dont know what to do plus they did not have the machines to even keep him out of distress! People in Winder actually comment that if they were in a car wreck on the side of the road in front of this hospital they would rather die out front then actually even step foot in the building!!! I regret having my son here... although I wouldnt take it back for the world but please if your thinking about having your baby here... CHANGE YOUR MIND BEFORE THAT DAY COMES!
