Glaucoma
Our eye surgeons are experienced in successful glaucoma treatment for patients in Kansas and all over the world. Glaucoma is an eye disorder in which the optic nerve is damaged in the back of the eye. It is often, but not always, associated with increased pressure of the fluid in the eye. Untreated glaucoma leads to permanent damage of the optic nerve and results in visual field loss, which can progress to blindness.
Ophthalmology
David A. Kingrey, M.D. joined The Ochsner Eye Center in 1998, and founded what is now Vision Surgery Consultants. Dr. Kingrey is a native of Wichita and a graduate of The University of Kansas Medical School. After completing his medical degree, Dr. Kingrey completed a residency in Ophthalmology at Ohio State University.

Cataracts
If you do not have cataracts, suffer from presbyopia (loss of your reading vision), and are not a candidate for laser vision correction, then Refractive Lens Exchange with premium lens implants may be an exciting option for you.
Cataract Surgery
Presbyopia is a condition that causes loss of near or reading vision because of age associated changes in the natural lens and focusing muscle of the eye. Since the natural lens is removed during cataract surgery, presbyopia is a consequence. The standard single-vision lens implants covered by insurance can be set for distance or near vision, but cannot deliver a full range of vision from distance to near. Accommodating and multifocal lens implants can yield a greater range of vision and less dependence on glasses after surgery.

Eyelid Surgery
