Westfield Superette

My wife and I went to town today and when we got home I noticed that there was a bright shiny nail in the tire on her mini van, so since they were calling for possible rain tomorrow, I thought I had better plug the tire.....Anyway, I have a tire plugging tool and had one plug but the plug is about 15 years old and very dry....I thought I would try it anyway, so got my pliers and pulled the nail then inserted the plug and pulled the tool out and could hear air coming from the plug so I think it's no good and I hop in my truck and rush down to the WESTFIELD SUPERETTE to buy some plugs. I get down to the WESTFIELD SUPERETTE and walk in and go get a pack of plugs for 2.69 and bring them to the counter to pay for them and there is no one there.......The OWNER of the place is off at the end of the counter, playing the lottery with someone. Well, I heard the guy and he was nice enough to tell the OWNER of the WESTFIELD SUPERETTE to go ahead and wait on me and she politely tells me to hold on or be right there and goes on doing what she's doing, then comes over to ring up my tire plugs. She rings them up and I hand her my debt card. She looks at me and says "You have to spend $5.00." I tell her I don't have any cash on me and that's all I have. She says again,

"You have to spend $5.00."........I ask her "So you aren't going to sell me the tire plugs?" She says if I spend $5.00. So I put my debt card up and put the tire plugs on the counter and tell her to forget it, and she replies "OK". and I walk out. Now, I don't know about alot of you out there, but this really burns me up. Don't get me wrong I know and understand that a business like that does have to have certain policies, but when a person or a CUSTOMER, like myself is standing at the register wanting and more than wanting, NEEDING to buy something like I was..... and by the way, while I'm down there waiting while she's playing the lottery and refusing to sale me the tire plugs unless I buy other items that I DON'T NEED, my wife's tire is going flat in my driveway......I think she should have showed some courtesy, salesmanship, and well, I will say it......DOWNRIGHT DECENCY, and sold me the plugs. I know they have the $5.00 policy and I understand why they have it, but the fact of the matter is that I am not down there everyday trying to buy $2.00 worth of stuff and charge it on a credit or debit card. If I do go down there, I have always spent atleast $5.00 if I used a credit or debit card........went down there a while back because my wife was fixing spaghetti at home and we needed a can of sauce, which you can get at Walmart for .88, and it was over $4.00 down there, but you know, today I didn't have any cash on me and all I had was my debit card and didn't need or want anything besides the tire plugs and I don't think that I should have had to spend $3 or $4 more dollars just so that she could get a little bit richer!! Everytime I have been in that place, she is never at the counter, she's in the back of the store or doing something else and always says, be there in a minute and continues doing what she's doing until she is ready to come up there and make the sale, and I don't know about everybody, but to me, this is EXTREMELY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! I have worked in retail/sales before and I worked a job at the Pantry when I was younger, and this is not how my employers instructed me to behave or conduct business and it sure wasn't how I conducted it. If a customer is standing there with money, debit, credit, cards, check,.....what ever, you wait on that customer because they may be needing the item they are purchasing and be in a hurry, as I was today. One last thing.......I don't know if that woman, THE OWNER OF THE WESTFIELD SUPERETTE gets it or understands it or not, but people aren't driving from Mount Airy, Pilot Mountain, or any other places to come and do business with the WESTFIELD SUPERETTE
