Great people watching on Friday nights and weekends over high-octane margaritas. I think I've single-handidly gobbled up at least three baskets of chips and salsa on more than one occasion. The food itself is pretty good and they offer quite a few vegetarian options. Taco Tuesday's are especially lively.

Marix is not set on impressing. The food is your basic Mexican food done American style. You know the kind - drowning in yellow cheese, sour cream and marginal guacamole. However, I've been there about a hundred times and it was on about visit 90 that I discovered the shrimp enchiladas and I've stuck with them since. A short flirtation with the shrimp diablo ended after repeated fire-in-the-hole awakenings the next morning. The shrimp enchiladas are the one item on the menu bursting with bright zesty flavors. Everything else just tastes bland. No kick. I always start things off with a pitcher of their house margaritas. They will kick your you no what so no need for pitcher they call Kick A _ _! You guzzle this down while you stand in the bar waiting for your table. And it is a pleasant wait as Marix is home to the most hunky, handsome, pretty, rough and coifed boys you'll find. It is like an International Male catalogue convention was taking place next door and this was the closest haunt they could all find at the lunch break. Once you finally get a table order some Queso to dip your warm chips. A real treat and almost a meal in itself if you get too piggy. Don't order the ice cream fried in cornflakes. They always try to sell this and I think it should just come off the menu. Choose Marix for a great time with your best friends and be sure to walk or have a designated driver if you'll be drinking.
