Vitae Family Care Clinic

I have been a patient here many times. The support staff is very friendly, they have an excellent and kind nurse. I love the Catholic atmosphere. Close parking.....those are all pluses. There are downfalls that we have had over and over again that is why I gave 3 stars. I have really wanted to like this practice. There have been multiple mistakes with recording information incorrectly. Test results are not communicated, prescriptions not sent, procedures not done on time for situation etc. This has happened multiple times and I believe it is the woman at the front desk who is not able to multi-task or stay on top of her work, she happens to be the doctor's wife. The doctor is good but does not have the best bedside manner, many doctors do not. For instance he referred to a part of my body with a word that is offensive, it was not technical or medical. I was not too offended but he was showing a student how to do something. I was slightly embarrassed. He is from a small town where he handled the entire family and all their issues. In our area, we send people to specialists so they can be properly diagnosed and treated. He does not seem to want to send people to specialists. With my situation and a friend's he should have sent us to specialists and we were not properly treated healthwise. He gave me a procedure that he rushed through. Later I was found to have a very serious condition by a specialist that should have been picked up by that procedure. It should have been taken care of and because I was not aware/we were not aware the condition worsened. I could have easily sued. Another condition was not sent to a specialist either. I decided to see one on my own. In the previous review stated, the patient stated that the clinic teaches natural healthcare, that is not true. It teaches Natural Family planning using the Creighton Method. That is chemical free birth control but he prescribes all sorts of meds and is not all natural at all. I appreciate that the clinic is free standing, pro-life but they need to work on communication, staying on top of records and sending people to specialists.

I have only been to the clinic once but everyone was so friendly! I am happy that we have a clinic here in Iowa that teaches Natural Health Care instead of prescribing so many drugs that come to find out is not healthy for you. I can't wait to actually start finding out more about the other services that are provided at Vitae!
