Dental Examination
I had to find a new dentist as our insurance changed and was referred to Dr. Molina’s practice. I was so pleased with the entire visit starting with the friendly reception, to the cleaning and exam. My daughter had to get 2 permanent teeth pulled and Dr. Molina made her feel relaxed and the procedure went smoothly. I would definitely recommend this office.

Oral Cancer Screening
The cancer screening has two stages: the first is to check the visible soft tissues for growths or suspicious lesions of the tongue, palate, cheeks, throat, and gums while the second entails reviewing the panoramic x-ray to evaluate the bone, nerve, sinuses and joint for pathology. We know that recognizing and diagnosing lesions in the initial stages can be life saving. If you have any areas of concern, please make us aware so that we can rule out any need for further evaluation.

Teeth Cleaning
Having regular 6 month dental exams and cleanings can also prevent sensitivity by revealing cavities while they are still in a manageable state. Sometimes, when cavities are left to grow and large fillings have to be placed, patients can experience sensitivity. Usually this sensitivity is temporary and resolved within a few weeks.
Fluoride Treatment
Cavities are no longer inevitable for children. We have fluoride and sealants to protect their teeth from decay. Sealants are unfilled resin applied to the chewing surfaces of teeth were pits and fissures (grooves) can collect bacteria which can cause cavities. Sealants and fluoride treatments are just a few of the ways we will lay the foundation for a lifetime of good oral health and positive dental experiences.
Dental Sealants
Dental sealants consist of “painting” a flowable resin material onto the pits and fissures on the chewing surfaces of the molar and premolar teeth. It prevents cavities from forming by creating a physical barrier that keeps the bacteria, plaque, and food from getting trapped in these grooves. It seals off the areas that toothbrush bristles are too large to get into and that flossing cannot reach. Additionally, sealants contain fluoride that is absorbed into the tooth creating a denser, less permeable structure that is more likely to withstand the plaque and acid of the mouth. Sealants do not require any tooth reduction and are applied directly to the tooth surface after thorough cleaning and drying of the tooth. The resin is made hard (cured) by a light, making them quick and simple to apply. Although we usually apply sealants as the permanent molars erupt at age 6 and then again at age 12, this treatment can be beneficial for children and adults alike. The sealants normally stay in place for a few years before having to be replaced.

Fillings
Resin Composite
Fillings are done when decay is present in a tooth. The decayed areas are cleaned out and the resulting hole or space is filled in with a white, resin composite material. These composite fillings do not contain any mercury or silver. They bonded to the tooth, eliminating the need for reduction of healthy tooth structure to get the mechanical retention that is necessary to place the old amalgam silver fillings. Resin composite restorations are not only beautifully esthetic but strong and durable also. Some of them even release fluoride over time, protecting the tooth from future decay.
Veneers
A veneer is a thin layer of restorative material placed over a tooth surface, either to improve the esthetics of a tooth, or to protect a damaged tooth surface. There are two main types of material used to fabricate a veneer, composite and porcelain. A composite veneer may be directly placed (built-up in the mouth), or indirectly fabricated by a dental technician in a dental laboratory, and later bonded to the tooth. In contrast, a porcelain veneer may only be indirectly fabricated at the lab and cemented to the tooth at a subsequent appointment.
Crowns
Bridges are made of the same materials as crowns. They are cleaned by using a floss threader (as you would use a needle and thread) to get under the “fake” tooth and dislodge any plaque that may be present. This is of critical importance as the bridge depends on the adjacent teeth for support. Keeping those teeth as clean as possible ensures the stability and health of the bridge for years to come. Root Canal Treatment
A crown is a type of dental restoration which completely caps or encircles a tooth or dental implant and is typically bonded to the tooth using dental cement. It is indicated when a filling makes up greater than 50% of the tooth structure or when more filling than tooth is present. Crowns can be made from many materials including porcelain, porcelain fused to metal, or gold. They are often used to improve the strength or appearance of an individual tooth that is severely decayed, fractured, or endodontically treated with a root canal. Sometimes crowns are used for esthetic reconstruction. In these cases, we are improving the overall esthetics of the patient by whitening, straightening and re-contouring the teeth. This treatment involves in-depth planning to make sure that color, shape, size, and esthetics are ideal while maintaining great function and occlusion. The doctors here at Molina Dentistry will work closely with you and the lab technicians to provide a beautiful, functional, healthy result.

Deep Cleaning

Dentures
Implants can be used in situations other than just replacing a single tooth. When multiple teeth are lost forming a large gap, we can place 2 or 3 implants in the space and make an implant-supported bridge. Also, for the completely edentulous patient, implants can be placed and the denture can be modified to snap onto them. This stabilizes the denture, preventing movement during chewing and other functional activities such as speaking.

She did her undergraduate coursework at the University of Kentucky where she received her Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Arabic. She went on to receive her Master’s in Health Science and Doctorate of Dental Surgery from Meharry Medical College in Nashville. She graduated top of her class clinically and with high honors. Dr. Azer continued her education by completing an Advanced Education residency in general dentistry at the VA Medical center in Dayton, OH where she also graduated top of her class.
