Dental Care

Vaccination
For your pet's safety and the safety of our other guests, we require that all grooming pets be current on vaccinations and free from internal and external parasites at the time of grooming.
Veterinary Ophthalmology
Wellness exams allow our veterinarians to detect problems and diseases that might go undiagnosed otherwise, including heart murmurs, tumors, enlarged organs, cataracts, ear infections, ear mites, dental disease, skin issues, allergies and more.

We use modern inhalation isoflurane gas anesthesia with a ventilator, pulse oximetery, blood pressure, ECG, heart rate and respiration monitor with continuous monitoring by a Registered Technician.
Periodontal Disease Treatment
Once your pet has had a dental prophy, you can help prevent the recurrence or progression of periodontal disease at home. The best option is brushing your pet's teeth daily and applying a sealant weekly. Other products are available that can be helpful when brushing is not possible such as dental chews or a special dental diet.

Wound and Fracture Care
This presents common emergencies that you should be prepared to handle; anaphylaxis, bite wounds or injuries, bleeding, burns, vomiting, diarrhea, seizures, enclampsia, heart failure, heat stroke, poisoning or unconsciousness.

Veterinary Surgery
We provide ambulatory care for various livestock animals in the Wellington and surrounding areas. Our large animal veterinarians can accommodate on-site routine visits, comprehensive medical and surgical services.
Declawing
We offer declawing with a surgical laser as a better alternative to traditional scalpel surgery because the laser seals the nerve endings and small blood vessels as it cuts. This reduces pain and blood loss and causes less swelling. This results in less risk of infection and a faster return to normal activities.

Laboratory Services
At Wellington Veterinary Clinic, our goal is keeping your pet happy and healthy. Thanks to modern diagnostics and our on-site laboratory, we're able to do just that for sick and injured pets.
X-Ray
We offer ambulatory appointments at your farm in the Wellington and surrounding areas. We have multiple doctors available to service our farm clients. We provide comprehensive medical and surgical evaluations, diagnostics, and treatment. We offer portable digital radiography and ultrasound. We also offer emergency care after normal business hours. An emergency fee for after hour service will apply in addition to the trip charge. There is trip charge based on how far your farm is from our clinic. Payment is expected at the time of service.
Dental Radiology
To keep your pet calm, a short acting sedative may be needed. We now offer digital radiography including digital intraoral radiographs for dental x-rays. Digital radiographs provide higher quality images over traditional processing with x-ray films. Since there is no film development process you can often see your pet's x-rays in the exam room and the doctor can zoom in to show you areas of concern. This aids in diagnosing medical problems faster and in discussing treatment options sooner. The digital images can be burned on a CD or viewed on the internet by a radiologist for further evaluation if needed. In addition, we have a portable digital radiograph unit for our on-farm calls which allows radiographs to be viewed immediately.
Microchipping
Micro-chipping provides a valuable service in helping to identify your dog or in helping your lost dog find its way home. We use Home Again micro-chipping which utilizes a national database to reunite you with your dog should it end up in a shelter, APL or veterinary hospital. We have a universal reader to read any type of micro-chip.

We have been serving the Wellington area since 1989 when our founder, Dr. William Spreng opened the Wellington Veterinary Clinic as an ambulatory practice servicing primarily farm animals. The small animal clinic was opened in 1994 at our current location and our expansion was added in 2007 offering a new reception area, examination rooms, treatment areas, and our separate luxury lodging and professional grooming salon.
