Overall

At my first appointment I told the doctor that I wanted an ablation done on my upper back. I had already had epidurals and 4 facet block injections done and I knew my horrifying pain was from the nerves in my thoracic vertebrae. He told me my Medicare insurance stated I had to go through 8 more facet block injections. Not only did he lie to me, he refused to do an ablation or to help me any further as a patient. Said he'd keep giving me pain meds but refused to do any other procedures to relieve my pain.

What a Nightmare!

First let me say there are several docs at this practice. I think I must have gotten the most arrogant, impatient jerk they had. He rushed me thru my exam. I was trying to get pain relief for cancer related nerve damage. This doc immediately wanted to put me thru these steroid injections in my back. The bills I got said they were billing the insurance company $5,000-$7,000 per treatment. Also the people at the facility that you get this treatment are very unorganized and really seemed inexperienced. One time the lady who was giving me the anethesia did not give me enough and I was feeling the needle going in. Oh my God!! Billing was also a nightmare. The surgery facility was billing me for stuff I should not had to pay for. I found out it had alot to do with the fact that the doctor own that facility too. They are getting money from you in the practice and in the surgery center. Something not right about that kind of monopoly. I finally decided to go to another pain doc in ft worth and Lone Star was not cooperating with me on getting my records to my new doc. Finally I had to go up there and make a scene and have the new doc call them demanding they fax over my chart. My new doc is great and he said that those expensive injections they were giving me were not at all good for my type of pain. He said when a pain doc pushes a bunch high priced procedures to you, RUN!!!

So, maybe it was just the doc I got stuck with there. Oh and by the way, I did ask to see another doc in the practice and my doc refused to let me switch to someone else. I told them I felt it was a personality conflict. They still said he refused to let me switch to another doc in that practice. My advice is be weary of all the expensive procedures. Maybe you will have more luck with this practice. The lady prior to my review thought it was great!!

Exceptional Pain Management Facility

I have been dealing with a neck & back injury I sustained during turbulence while working as a flight attendant in 1991. As a result, I have had A LOT of experience with the various medical specialties and pain management in particular. Lonestar Pain Medicine is easily one of the best facilities I have ever had the opportunity to treat with. The staff is very professional and always courteous. Of course I can't speak for the services available to those who suffer with other types of injuries, illnesses and their consequent pain management needs. However, from my experience the caretakers in this facility are able to offer all the options available for treating my specific problem -- I well imagine they are equipped to care for just about any pain management patient. Highly reccomended!!
