Emergency Care
Rachael Hawkins-Tighe, DNP, FNP-C began her career as an Emergency Department nurse at Northeast Georgia Medical Center and decided to pursue her degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner at Mercer University. After graduation, she continued her education and achieved a Doctor of Nursing Practice Degree in July 2020. She has always been drawn to behavioral health patients and has endeavored to provide them with compassionate care for their emotional, psychological and social well-being. Rachael was born and raised in Nashville, TN and has called Watkinsville, GA home for the last 13 years. Her family includes her husband and three wonderful young children, two dogs and a cat. During her leisure time, she enjoys spending time with family, participating in outdoor activities, sports and traveling.

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
Her practice experience includes, but is not limited to, individual psychotherapy, couples and family therapy, post-traumatic stress disorder, ADHD, OCD, depression, stress, panic attacks, and grief issues. Depending on the individual client's needs, Sarah is capable of employing multiple methods of treatment, such as solution-focused therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, behavior modification, DBT techniques, relaxation skills, and education in family dynamics. Sarah also enjoys working with those who are dealing with chronic pain and the emotional toll that it inflicts, as well as women struggling with postpartum issues & depression. Sarah joined ABM after working with Pathways Transition Programs here in Georgia for over 11 years. She has extensive experience in working with children and adolescents who have dealt with severe trauma and has provided family crisis intervention. While at Pathways, she worked on their Intensive Family Intervention (IFI) program and progressed to managing the program for the entire agency.

Nicole is a firm believer in erasing the stigma that mental health can have. Her interests include anxiety, depression, treatment-resistant depression, and peri/post-partum depression. Her goal is to ensure that her patients live their best lives and she takes a multi-faceted approach to help them obtain this.
Psychiatry
Medical Director and founder of Athens Behavioral Medicine, Dr. McCormack is a native Georgian and graduate of Emory University School of Medicine. He held an appointment as Clinical Professor in the Dept. of Psychiatry at Emory from 2003-2010, and he currently holds the same position at the new medical school in Athens, the MCG/ UGA Health Partnership through Augusta University. Over his six-year tenure at Duke University School of Medicine, he completed a residency in General Psychiatry and then sought subspecialty training, completing fellowships in both Forensic Psychiatry and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, where he served as Chief Resident. He earned his undergraduate degree Magna Cum Laude from Wake Forest University and high school diploma from Marist School in Atlanta.

Correct diagnosis is especially important in psychiatric practice, because it drives all subsequent treatment decisions, and because of the stigma involved with inappropriate “labeling.” At ABM, a comprehensive evaluation includes thorough medical record review, clinical interviews, psychometric rating scales and targeted psychological tests, and specific biopsychosocial treatment recommendations. At times, lab work or brain imaging techniques such as MRI or quantitative EEG may also be utilized in the evaluation process.

Vascular Surgery
In her free time, Lanie loves to spend time with her husband, James, who is a Physician Assistant in Vascular Surgery. She enjoys yoga, riding the Peloton bike, reading thriller novels, and listening to true crime podcasts. When she’s not at home or at work, she is spending time with friends in Athens, Atlanta or Charlotte, NC.
