The National Committee for Quality Assurance, also known as CCQA, works to improve the health care quality. The committee is a private, nonprofit organization that has been in operation since 1990. It reviews annual reports on organizations performances. The committee works with employers, policymakers, doctors, patients and health plan providers. The National Committee for Quality Assurance accredits a variety of health plans. The committee certifies physician and credentials verification organizations. It operates back pain and diabetes recognition programs. The committee accredits preferred provider and managed behavioral health care organizations.
