Over a year ago,as a thank you gift to, me my niece took my grandmother clock to Joe for repair. It had been damaged in a fall. Joe worked on it and returned it to my house. The clock would not continue to run. Joe came to my home 4 or 5 times over this period to "fix the clock" the clock, to no avail. It would still " not continue to run". The times he came to my house to fix the clock were spread over this elongated period because of Joe's health problems. These visits became very uncomfortable as Joe started to blame all the clock problems on me - something I did to the clock. Finally I paid $100 in addition to the$300 my niece had originally paid, and Joe exchanged my clock for a similar clock with a new movement. It ran for a couple of days (not long enough for the weights to have run their normal 5 day course) and then it too stopped. Joe kept my $100 because I "broke" the new clock.
Just before Joe picked up the replacement clock and returned mine, I set the clock and it ran fine. I did not keep it because it probably would have again stopped after several days.

The replacement clock was supposed to show the phases of the moon on. I did not look closely at it in the shop, because I thought that feature was kind of "hokey". As I looked at it closely at home, the moon did not move and there were large spots on it that looked like oil spots.

Repaired our grand fathers clock - fair price - it runs like a champ. While I was there, I purchased a mid-century modern 'Atomic clock' - really fair price.
