Our family Vet. Dr. Debretsion discovered a problem with our Boston Terrier and referred us to VCA Southern Maryland Referral Center after he took X-Rays to find out what was going on with Tux. Dr. McGuire also took Ultra Sound and a Biopsy and it was discovered that we were dealing with Cancer.Dr. McGuire and her assistant Shylah were wonderful in prescribing treatment as well as consoling us. After 4 or 5 weeks Tux took a turn for the worse. After another Ultra Sound it appeared that his Cancer had grown substantially and he could no longer stand the pain. We had to make the decision to put him to sleep. Dr. McGuire and Shylah were very comforting and we know that they did everything possible for Tux. The next day we picked him up and took him to be buried. Every member of the staff was very sympathetic and yet professional about the situation. I would highly recommend this Hospital if and when you discovered a serious problem with your pet.Our Deepest Gratitude. Linda Balzer.

This place is horrible! They ...

This place is horrible! They prices are ridiculous and they try to sell you on running every test possible - why? Because they think if you are in there for emergency services you won't go anywhere else. Granted, most vets are closed on Saturday but I wouldn't go here again unless it was the last place available. Not to mention - it was way far out.

Price comparison from Indian Head Animal Hospital (almost had the same thing done last year for a different pet): IHAH Office Call: $50. VCA: $130 (granted I expect to buy a little more for a Saturday but that is ridiculous). IHAH antibiotic injection: $22, VCA: $49. IHAH: Clavamox 62.5mg $23.20 (24count) VCA: 37.17 (20 count - even less quantity and still way more!).

Most of the people were rude and the vet spent little time with us. One "tech" didn't know what the heck she was talking about and was rude on top of it. Another "tech" admitted she didn't know, but was at least polite and said she would go ask the vet (though we never saw her again). Lucky for me I had called my hometown vet in Idaho, and with a little common sense and prior experience, I knew that they were being ridiculous. Still I walked away with a bill 3 times what it should have been and still a fraction of what they wanted to pay. Seriously - don't go here. I'm sure there are other emergency vets that are much better. Oh, BTW, my cat is doing great and I'm so glad I didn't listen to them.

i.e., A local favMy cat, Sim, became very sick after 14 years. We took him to VCA and they explained all of the tests and costs that would need to be done. We then decided that euthanasia was our best option for our cat. They were very kind, patient, and understanding throughout the whole process. They made us feel that we had made the right choice and gave us ample time to say goodbye to our pet. They had excellent options regarding cremation and I felt better about the process because of VCA. They even sent a condolence card to us. Their office staff is polite and professional and I would highly recommend using them for your pet's needs.orite, or highly recommended because
