Main courses are good. Fish and fajitas were top notch.

Salsa and rice were kinda plain.

Overall, good food.

Service was really good. They did have a lot of interesting decor around the walls.

We don't often get around to this part of Texas when we travel but, when we do, I like to stop at Chuy's for lunch/dinner.

On this stop, I tried the gorditas. The flavor was good! The corn "tortilla" was crispy, good texture, great seasoning, and stuffed with tasty ground beef. The rice and beans that came with it were equally good.

I saw it online and thought it was part of the chain but it's not. However, it is very good. We got there just as they opened and I couldn't get the first two things I asked for; the soup wasn't ready and the second item I asked for, which was on the menu, they were out of. Oh well, so I asked what was good and had a very nice lunch. Just go with the flow and you will enjoy it. My husband and I were both happy with our lunch. Some day I will go back later and try the chicken green chili soup.

On a recent trip to El Paso we stopped in Van Horn and went to Chuy's. I thought of this place was the place John Madden always talked about. It was pretty good. Good tacos. Good enchiladas. Really tasty chips and salsa. It will be a future stop. I was really surprised.

What a wonderful place to stop with friends and get a meal. Service was excellent! We will be stopping here again.

Chuy's Mexican Restaurant is great from our experience (Clean, Decor, Friendly, Fast, Service, Choices, Food Prep, Taste, Prices, etc.) so what else can I say but that if you go here be prepared! If you like the taste (thrill???) of a killer chili this is the place. If you have a Killer Chili smell allergy Beware. I had no idea that a chili pepper dish served to one patron could cause a room full of people (seriously!) to evolve into a total coughing spree that lasted about fifteen minutes!!! I was so naive that I even got up to check the kitchen for a gas leak!!! The manager told me that it was "just the chili that guy ordered!". Good on ya but beware. Recommended.

I had dinner here and found the staff to be friendly, helpful and welcoming. Loved the red chile pork but the menu has many delicious looking options.

Parking lot was full. Usually a good sign, and it was. I am from Peoria Arizona. Most of our food is sorianan style. I have had Tex-Mex and was delighted to find that this was not Tex-Mex.(no like Tex-Mex) This was a Juarez style. I like to try different foods and I very much enjoyed the food. The lady that served us took the time to answer my questions about the food. A delightful lady she was. I think she was the owner.
Everything hand made in their kitchen.
I liked their decor especially the old ford out front. The place was clean and the service was quick and efficient.
If you are in the area and want something different give them a try. The #1 plate has a good sample of their food.
Oh the food is very reasonable. Two people about $8.00 per person and we went away stuffed.

The best I've ever had. I love their chile verde- so much that I eat there at least once a week. Their chips and salsa? AMAZING. If you're looking for something not so spicy- their Quesadillas are delicious.

I have been stopping in Van Horn for over night stays for 20 plus years and eat at Chuy's every time. Their Mexican food does not have the same taste as Mexican food does in Texas or Arizona but it is a very good and I highly recommend it. I personally have always had very good service and will continue eating there everytime I'm in town.

Found this place after riding our bikes 500 plus miles through this hot ass state! Great food had the #21 sautéed chicken and onions. A lot like chicken fajitas. Ice cold beers also! I doubt I'll ever visit Van Horn Texas but if I do I'll definitely stop in at Chuys!

Ate here after a long day at a track meet. Food was good. The overall atmosphere was inviting, and festive, especially with caraoke singing!

Reading some of the other reviews of Chuy's, and no this is not the chain, made us laugh. For us, the food was very good and the service just fine. I ordered the No. 1 platter, everything on the plate was really good. I could have made a meal off of the Chili Verde and tortilla's. The enchilada was different. They call it "flat" because it is folded and not rolled. The taco was good and the gordito was also different but good . It was like it was encased in tamale breading and then fried.

First of all the food was outstanding! I got the Madden Special, my wife got the chicken enchiladas, and they were perfect. My son's steak fajita was excellent as well. Pitchers of beer for $8.99 also cannot be beat...

If you're driving through West Texas and you're hungry stop in Van Horn, for this funky little spot with lots of character and good Tex-mex! Someone sure does love Don Madden here! I had the Asado Plate it was quite tasty!!

This place is funky, there's sport memorabilia everywhere. Pretty cool. We ordered the Madden Special and the chicken enchiladas, both were tasty. The salsa and queso were both very good with a perfect spice kick.

The food was good, service was acceptable. Always a crowd at this restaurant. They have tshirts if you want a souvenir from Van Horn TX.

While traveling to Dallas from Tucson we stopped in Van Horn which is midway between these two cities. There is not much to choose from in the lodging/dining choices within 100 miles either way but you do the best that you can with the help of the Trip Advisor folks. We stumbled upon Chuy's restaurant in the middle of town and were VERY glad that we did. We travel with a little dog (very well behaved) and we asked if we could be seated on the mostly empty side porch. Our hostess, Alisa, said "no problem" and seated is toward the back where two of the management while our waitress, Selina, helped us with our order. The Fish Tacos were excellent from the Tex Mex menu and the draught beer was nice and cold.

A number of other patrons were enjoying their meals and the March Madness Basketball Games on TV. It was a beautiful evening and we could not have enjoyed it more.

We will be heading west next week and will stop again to see if they can do it again.

Very good authentic Mexican food. Not Tex Mex. And certainly not what we have to deal with back east. We ate here on New year's day 2003 and have spoken fondly of Chuy's many times. This was the first time we had headed this far west since. We were delighted that they are still going strong.
