Dr. Shah’s extensive knowledge and training allow her to have a unique approach to practicing medicine, delivering personalized and compassionate patient care. Wound Care
Having an open wound, increases the chances of infection. If you have a non healing wound on your lower extremity, it is essential that you act to get it healed as quickly as possible to prevent infection and further complications. If you have diabetes, you are especially at risk for complications. The sooner a wound is treated the greater the patient's chances are of healing.
Pinched Nerve
A Neuroma is a benign tumor that cultivates from the fibrous outer layers of a nerve, particularly in the foot. It can cause a variety of sensations due to the sporadic nature of an injured nerve, one of which is unfortunately severe discomfort from a pinched nerve in between the toes.

Unfortunately, these conservative treatments provide only temporary relief. Eventually, surgery is the only way to correct the bunion deformity. Our doctors are board certified surgeons and have been performing Bunion surgeries in local hospitals and certified surgery centers for over 25 years. Bunion surgery is usually performed on an out-patient basis and patients get to go home on the same day of the surgery. We encourage our patients to start walking on the operative foot the same day of the surgery. It is our objective to get you back on your feet as soon possible.
Bunions
Bunions are a bony, often painful hump at the base of the big toe. Bunions are due primarily to genetic factors, but can become painful over time due to trauma, ill-fitting shoes and poor foot structure. When the bone connected to the big toe starts to grow outward, it pushes the big toe sideways into the other toes which can also lead to painful hammertoes, corns and calluses. Bunions are often left untreated, but when they become painful we will first treat them conservatively with padding, anti-inflammatories, physical therapy, injection therapy, wider shoes and custom othotics.
Ingrown Toenails
An ingrown toe nail occurs when one or both sides of a nail starts to break and grown into your toe’s soft skin. This can cause irritation and infection when the nail creates a cut or skin opening in the toe. To help keep ingrown toenails at bay, you should practice proper nail trimming. Being overzealous when cutting our toenails can lead to an ingrown toenail. If you are unsure of whether you have an ingrown toenail, below are possible signs and symptoms.

If your toes hurt when wearing shoes or you developed hard painful calluses on the tops of your toes, you may be suffering from a condition called hammertoes. Hammertoes are caused by a contracture of the small joints in the toe which causes friction to these joints when wearing shoes. When the top of the toe repeatedly rubs against the shoe a corn develops.
Fungus
Fungal toenails are caused by an organism that grows on top and under the nail. The fungus grows in warm, moist places like your shoes. You can pick up fungal toenail infections from a nail salon, wet shoes or from trauma. Fungus stays in the nails for many years and can spread very quickly. There are three treatment modalities for this condition. They include topical medications, oral medications, and the newest modality which is laser therapy.

Dr. Sajni Shah is a highly trained Podiatrist and foot surgeon. Dr. Shah is a Board Qualified Podiatrist with an expertise in numerous foot and ankle disorders. She completed her residency at a premier institution in New York City, Mount Sinai Hospital Manhattan. Her residency training included special emphasis on foot related orthopedics, sports medicine, child disorders, along with foot and ankle surgery and diabetic limb salvage. Dr. Shah graduated from New York College of Podiatric Medicine with a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) degree, consistently on the dean’s list. Prior to that, Dr. Shah also obtained a Masters of Science degree in Nutrition from the prestigious Columbia University, graduating Suma Cum Laude.

The laser beam is moved over the skin so that light energy will penetrate the tissue that is being treated causing biological effects that reduce inflammation and pain. Flat Feet occur when feet do not have a normal arch when standing and are referred to as “pes planus,” which translates into fallen arches. It’s relatively common in babies and will generally go away by the time they reach the age of three however it may linger through adulthood.
