Overall
Otis Driftwood

My dog had a tumor on his leg, being as my husband grew up around here and knew the doctor at this clinic he suggested it to me. I immediately went in to get it checked out, they charged me 45 $ to look at the tumor I had already told them was there and tell me it was a tumor and unless I wanted to pay them to biopsy it that was all they could do. They could have told me this over the phone when I was asking what the visit would entail. Also while I was asking my questions I made sure to ask if the vet would be okay with a talkative pit bull. I was told that yes the doctor in fact liked working with pit bulls. On the day of his surgery, ( again I went there on my husbands word it would be okay) The clerk had me put my dog in a cage so the doctor could meet him alone. Then the doctor comes to tell me that My dog growled at him and tried to bite him. My dog likes to bark and talk, He gets excited and I informed the front desk lady that when I was doing my original inquiry. He tells me that He will not do the surgery unless I will go muzzle him AND hold his head down while they shave a spot to put a needle and anesthetize him. After his surgery when he woke up they did not call me, instead they waited for 2 1/2 hours until I called when they said too, to let me know he was awake. Then the lady behind the desk complained that she had to deal with my dog whining, after I had asked to get a call if he woke up earlier than planned. When we got home my dog was so over drugged that he slept for three days SOLID and was still out of it for another week and a half after that. When it came time for the stitches to come out my dog walked in with his tail between his legs and very docile, however the Lady behind the counter and the doctor had the nerve to tell me that they would not take his stitches out unless I consented to a muzzle AND held him down, while explaining to me that I did not know how to control my dog, and he was a viscous monster. My dog currently is fine with his new vet, and plays happily AND gently with my four month old daughter, how is that monstrous?

I would never consider taking another animal here, I wish I had been informed by the front desk that the doctors, and herself really, were not comfortable treating pit bulls. It is a problem I have encountered graciously several times, and would rather know and avoid the problem than being made to feel like my dog is a criminal, Also no owner should have to hold their dog down while someone causes pain to them, it hurts your bond as owner and caretaker. The only reason I am giving this vet a star at all is because I have to, If I could it would be negative, this was the worst experience I have had with a vet for my dog in four years of his life.

Overall
Compassion and experience

The 2 doctors at this hospital have a wealth of knowledge and experience. They are also two of the kindest men I've ever met. Add to that the fact that they don't overcharge and I am completely pleased to entrust my precious dog, Chewie to their expert care.
