Chapter 7 Bankruptcy is known as a “fresh start” or “liquidation” bankruptcy. In a Chapter 7 proceeding certain types of property are exempt under governing law and cannot be liquidated. Many types of debts can be discharged in a Chapter 7 such as medical debt and credit card debt. Some types of debts like child support and certain taxes are not discharged in Chapter 7. It is possible to keep a car or home that is not yet paid for, so long as the payments are current and remain current while going through a Chapter 7.

Mr. Johnson’s years of experience working with Mr. Shook on plaintiff’s employment law cases has provided Mr. Johnson with valuable insight to advise corporate human resource professionals as well as sole proprietors regarding the maze of employment laws.

In our employee benefits & litigation practice, we principally represent clients with ERISA-governed claims for short and long term disability benefits, but we also represent clients in benefit-related claims concerning life insurance, accidental death benefits, retirement/pension benefits, severance pay, and stock options.
Sexual Harassment
Jonathan E. Shook is a civil litigation lawyer who, since 1999, has focused his practice on representing individuals in matters pertaining to employment law and employee benefits. Mr. Shook has successfully represented hundreds of employees who have been wronged by their employers, and he has done so in a wide variety of contexts, including sexual harassment, age discrimination, race discrimination, gender discrimination, and retaliatory discharge.

Todd Laster is a native Tulsan who, since 2002 has primarily focused his practice on representing individuals and businesses in bankruptcy related matters. Mr. Laster has successfully represented hundreds of consumer debtors in Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy cases in the Northern and Eastern Districts of Oklahoma.
