Glaucoma
Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty (SLT) is a type of laser surgery that is used to decrease the intraocular pressure (IOP) in glaucoma patients. SLT is used when eye drop medications are not successful in lowering the IOP and are causing significant side effects. SLT can also be used as an initial glaucoma treatment.
Ophthalmology

Macular Degeneration
Age Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) is a common eye condition among people age 50 and older. It is a leading cause of vision loss in older adults. It gradually destroys the macula, the part of the eye that provides sharp, central vision needed for seeing objects clearly.
Laser Eye Surgery
For some patients, LASIK, iLASIK, PRK and even Implantable Contact Lenses are not considered viable treatment options due to certain factors. In these cases, a Refractive Lens Exchange or RLE may provide the best results.
Cataracts
For patients with cataracts in both eyes, a Monofocal Intraocular Lenses may provide the most benefit. A monofocal IOL is an intraocular lens with a fixed focus for one distance. A cataract doctor may select monofocal IOLs that are for near focus, for mid-distance focus, or for distant focus. Only one of these three can be selected and the focus will not change after surgery.
Cataract Surgery
Your eye’s normal lens is like a grape, having an outer skin and in inner gel like material. When a cataract forms, the material inside the lens (nucleus) turns cloudy and interferes with good vision. Cataract surgery removes the cloudy lens and replaces it with an intraocular implant. During cataract surgery the fine skin (posterior capsule) of the lens is left in place to support the intraocular lens implant.
Eye Exam
With a YAG Laser Capsulotomy, the patient sits in a chair just like the regular eye exam station. The doctor focuses the YAG laser onto the cloudy posterior capsule using a special aiming beam. As the laser is activated a click may be heard. Multiple applications of the laser are usually required to create a new window in the cloudy capsule.

Diabetic retinopathy is a complication of diabetes mellitus, which causes abnormalities in the tiny blood vessels nourishing the retina. Diabetic retinopathy is a leading cause of blindness among adults. Approximately 28% of current of adults with diabetes have retinopathy.

MRI
The device was originally developed by Optonol, Ltd. for implantation under the conjunctiva for controlling intraocular pressure (IOP). This biocompatible device is almost 3 mm long with an external diameter of approximately 400 microns.1 It is a non-valved, MRI compatible, stainless steel device with a 50 micron lumen. It has an external disc at one end and a spur-like extension on the other to prevent extrusion.
