Overall

We were referred to Dr. Dean when our Dachshund mix (emphasis on the mix :) needed surgery for ruptured discs. Time was extremely important, as PD's condition was worsening rapidly. Dr. Dean worked quickly to get x-rays and consult with us as to the percentage of PD's chance of full recovery, etc. We arrived at his office about 11:30, and got the phone call about 2:00 to let us know PD had come through the surgery just fine. We were told to expect weeks....possibly months for recovery. It has been almost three weeks since the surgery, and PD is walking about 60%. And we notice improvement every day. Yes, PD is now the most expensive dog we've owned. But is was a decision we made. And we felt very fortunate that Dr. Dean's office does have a financing option we were able to use. There was never an expense unexplained or unnecessary, and feel like we did the very best we could....and so did Dr. Dean. His expertise was quite impressive! I have no hesitation in a hearty recommendation for Dr. Dean. In addition, his office staff, Angela and Rebecca were the best at keeping us informed....and calm:-) A huge thank you to each of them!!

Board certified surgeon, Paul ...

Board certified surgeon, Paul Dean; will take thousands of dollars from you for a surgery on your animal even though there is no hope that the animal is going to have a quality of life afterwards. I was preyed upon by this ACVS diplomate and I feel very angry about it! My poor dachshund needed ACL surgery to repair a torn cruciate ligament, but he also needed brand new front legs because his entire body was breaking down with an autoimmune disease that could not be diagnosed properly by any specialist in several US states.

Paul Dean took several thousand dollars from me ($3K approx) and suggested to do the surgery without giving me the bleak outcome. I euthanized my dachshund less than 1 month later just a few months after his 5th birthday. I feel like Paul Dean robbed me of my money and gave me extreme false hope for any realistic recovery for Bentley.
