Dr. Wood is the absolute best! He is highly skilled, kind and professional. He really cares about his patients. Treats you like family. His staff is amazing and welcoming. Dental Examination
Your first appointment will consist of an oral exam and consultation. This allows your surgeon to thoroughly review your condition, dental history, and medical history before creating your treatment plan. We will likely take 3D images and will answer any questions you have regarding treatment. In most cases, you will return to the office at a later date for your actual procedure.
X-rays

Crowns
You will need a driver to bring you home and monitor you for 24 hours if you underwent IV sedation. It will take several months for the post to fully integrate with the jaw bone. Your dentist can often make temporary teeth for you to wear during the recovery period. Once the surgery sites have healed, your dentist will place your final crown, completing your restoration.
Bridges

Root Canal Treatment
Sometimes your surgeon or dentist can save a natural tooth through other means, such as root canals, apicoectomy, or other restorative procedures. If an extraction is necessary, however, our surgeons will discuss your tooth replacement options.
Apicoectomy

Dentures
Traditional Bridge or Partial Denture. Bridges or dentures are made of metal framework and rely on your existing teeth for support. They restore the appearance of a missing tooth, but do not restore full function. Bridges and dentures do not fuse to the jaw bone, leaving you susceptible to jaw bone atrophy associated with tooth loss. These options must be replaced every few years due to wear and tear, and if they are removable, you must take them out during meals and brushing.

Maxillofacial Surgery
He completed a hospital internship and oral and maxillofacial surgery residency program at the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he gained invaluable hands-on experience working with patients in a hospital environment. After his residency program, Dr. Wood continued gaining skills and experience through a year-long fellowship at Charity Hospital, an LSU-affiliated hospital in New Orleans.
Tooth Extractions
Dr. Wood, Dr. Coles, Dr. Saghafi, and Dr. Holbrook regularly perform tooth extractions at our offices in Tucson, Oro Valley, and Sahuarita, AZ. Our team is trained to remove damaged or infected teeth and eliminate any signs of infection around the tooth sockets to protect your oral health. Ridge Augmentation
Ridge augmentation is more common when multiple teeth have been missing for an extended period. Without stimulation from the teeth, the bony ridge that holds your teeth in place can become too thin, or parts of the ridge can deteriorate. Ridge augmentation can rebuild the height and width of the ridge to make space for dental implants.
Bone Grafting
A bone graft works by your surgeon inserting the grafting material where more bone is needed. Thanks to your body’s natural healing process, new bone will heal around the graft, resulting in new, sturdy bone. Our surgeons have years of experience performing a variety of bone grafting procedures to suit many different oral health needs.

Orthodontics
Every child is different, and the specific timeline for your child’s care will be determined by your care team. Typically, preparations for an alveolar bone graft begin when the child is around 5 years old. This can include 3D scans and X-rays of the child’s mouth. Orthodontics will prepare the mouth to ensure there is enough room for adult teeth prior to your surgeon placing an alveolar graft. Orthodontic preparation may include a palatal expansion which widens and aligns the palate. A child usually undergoes the bone graft procedure between the ages of 6 and 10.
Braces
We will schedule follow-up visits as necessary to make sure the surgical sites and bone graft are healing properly. When the bone graft fully heals, permanent teeth will be able to successfully erupt through the alveolar ridge. If any teeth are crooked or unevenly spaced, your child may wear braces to create a beautifully aligned smile.

General Dentistry
Dr. Holbrook completed his first residency program in general dentistry at the Veterans Administration Hospital North Chicago North Chicago. After previously working as a scrub technician for an oral surgery program in the US Navy and practicing general dentistry for 8 years, Dr. Holbrook was inspired to further his interest in oral surgery as a practitioner. He completed his second residency program in oral and maxillofacial surgery at Baylor University Medical Center.
