Preferred Pool

In October 2021 I a contract with Mr. Bill Irvin to build my pool for $83,500 and construction began in March 2022. Pool was still not completed in July 2022. July 3, 2022, after paying almost $75,000 of the contract, it became clear that he was going over the contract budget, didn’t manage the job or design properly, no change orders and lied about being insured! With the concrete deck, equipment, complete the electrical work and plaster still needing to be done, he demanded an additional $27,000+ to complete the job. When I refused, he walked off the job taking over $12,000, that was paid for pool equipment and incomplete electrical work, with him leaving me with a concrete mess and no pool equipment! We had a contract that he refuses to uphold! There were no change orders from either of us, nor have I agreed to any changes in design or to the contract.

Mr. Irvin is certified but NOT LICENSED or INSURED! I learned the hard way that there is a difference! NEVER TRUST THIS BUILDER! After some further digging that was not easy to find, I learned some interesting information. If you are considering using this pool builder, please do extensive research so that you are well informed.

So here I am with a huge concrete hole that I can’t even mow around because of the uneven mess he left, including piles of dirt, trash, rocks and concrete.

I didn’t finance any of this! The quotes to straighten this mess out are $70k+. I saved my whole life for this! I spoke with an attorney and I can go after the pool builder for the difference of what was left in the contract amount and what it will cost to get this finished plus attorneys fees, my chances of winning are very good considering I documented everything! But here’s the thing, it will cost in the neighborhood of $10k+ to sue and I may not ever actually recover the money, if any, that may be awarded to me from the pool builder and he knows this!
