Zaksee Florida Bird Sanctuary, Inc

I am a volunteer at Zaksee and I love every single second I am there! Majid (pronounced magic) is incredibly selfless in his dedication to these beautiful creatures. His knowledge is extensive. He puts in 12 hour days, 7 days a week to upkeep the birds and surroundings along with a handful of us volunteers. After all the birds are fed and watered in the morning then we take the time to sit and socialize with the cockatoos, parrots and love birds that can be trusted to be removed from their cages. We love them to pieces and get as much from our “cuddle time” as the birds believe me. The other Macaws, African Greys, Sun Conures, Parrots etc that are caged are fed individualized treats and talked too extensively. We have many games like peek a boo, dancing, singing and generally acting silly. The cages have toys, boxes and wood for chewing and are kept as clean as possible. Majid survives on donations to build aviaries, cages, perches, but food and toys, greenery and general upkeep.
