Sara Chalifoux, MD is a fellowship-trained gastroenterologist with board certifications in internal medicine and gastroenterology. Her clinical specialty includes gastroenterology and hepatology with an emphasis on digestive and liver system disorders, including the esophagus, stomach, small intestines, colon, liver, gallbladder, and pancreas. Dr. Chalifoux believes in providing comprehensive, high-quality medical care and building a strong, respectful physician-patient relationship. She strives to achieve with every one of her patients. She also feels that patient education and understanding are of the utmost importance and are a vital step to treatment success. Dr. Chalifoux has a strong research background, authored multiple gastroenterology publications, and presented her research at national and international conferences. In addition, she has a specific interest in the early detection of colorectal cancer. During her fellowship, she conducted the first study looking at the outcomes of colorectal cancer screening starting at age 45 in average-risk patients. She is an active member of the American Gastroenterological Association, the American College of Gastroenterology, and the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. In her free time, Dr. Chalifoux enjoys traveling, hiking and cooking for friends and family.
