This is very simple. If you want to be lied to and ripped off then by all means go by and get taken to the cleaners.
The owners son Ishmael and I worked a deal whereas his shop would supply and install a new timing belt water pump kit. The kit includes a water pump, timing belt, serpentine drive belt, 2 cam seals, 1 crank seal, 1 idler pulley, 1 tensioner roller pulley, 1 water pump and gasket.
After five days, Ishmael in a phone conversation said the work is complete, you are ready to go.
There was also some other work to be done that was included in the price of the car "out the door".. This was some paint work on the body. That is another story, it was very sub-standard. Just plain poor craftsmanship. Over spray everywhere along with roof trim missing.
After arriving at the lot with a full cash payoff I took a look under the hood. It was very apparent that no work was done, although Ishmael said the work was done and even brought out a timing belt and water pump and said this is the old one.
I asked where the other replaced parts were and was told they were thrown out.
I also asked for the Acura parts receipt from Tampa Acura, where I was told the parts would come from. There was no proper receipt.
All in all this was my worst car buying experience ever. In the end I was lied to and cheated by this "Family Business".
My $500.00 good faith deposit was not returned. Also I felt threatened by the owner for asking to walk away from the deal after attempting to negotiate for four hours.
