Dr. McGowan is board certified in Family Medicine and a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians. She has lived in Alpharetta since 1994. She spent much of her youth in England before returning to the U.S. and graduating from the University of Maryland. Prior to earning her medical degree, Dr. McGowan worked as a hospital-based health educator, medical editor, Senior News Producer at WebMD, and member of the Emergency Communications team at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. She attended the Medical College of Georgia and completed her residency training at Wake Forest Baptist Health in Winston-Salem, NC.

Yianna is a Georgia native and has lived in Forsyth County since 1998. She completed her undergraduate studies at Gainesville State College in Oakwood, Georgia. She graduated from Georgia Baptist College of Nursing of Mercer University in Atlanta, Georgia with her Bachelors of Science in Nursing in 2012. Yianna then went on to complete her Masters of Science in Nursing in 2015 with a concentration in Family Medicine while she was working as a registered nurse at Northside Hospital Forsyth. She has worked at both Northside Forsyth and Northside Cherokee as a medical and post-surgical nurse. Her experience as a Nurse Practitioner has been in both primary and urgent care settings. Yianna enjoys seeing patients of all ages, especially geriatrics and the underserved. Her passion is to provide compassionate, quality care to all of the patients that she serves. In her free time, Yianna enjoys time with her family and friends, traveling and spoiling her dog, Bentley.

Internal medicine is the branch and specialty of medicine concerning the diagnosis and nonsurgical treatment of diseases in adults, especially of internal organs. Doctors of internal medicine, also called "internists", are required to have included in their medical schooling and postgraduate training at least three years dedicated to learning how to prevent, diagnose, and treat diseases that affect adults.
