I've bought one, and leased one car from Douglas Motors. Both sales (Nick) and service (Brian) are top notch. I don't like being "sold to", and have never felt I was. Service is clean and courteous, and they even wash your car for free, and provide snacks while you wait for your car. As a woman, I often feel uncomfortable dealing with repair shops, but NEVER have felt uncomfortable here. Take my word for it, you will not be sorry you bought or leased from Douglas.

I purchase a nice car today and the service I received from Irene was superb. she wasn't even my original sales person but took me on last minute anyway. Irene had patience with me and the bank and in the end it all worked out even though my original sales men Dave came and he was also superb she continued to help him help me . Hopefully she gets part of the commission because they both were great and I would recommend this dealer to anyone...

After trips to a few dealerships my quest to lease my first new car seemed to be hopeless. Every place wanted to get me into a car, at their price without concern or regard for mine. Of course these prices were fair for a fully optioned top-of-the-line vehicle offered by each respective maker. Unfortunately, I was in the market for an affordable mid-sized sedan with a couple fairly common convenience options. I would walk into a dealership and most times was greeted happily, given a high level view of any model I showed an interest in, and even allowed to test drive then we would sit down to talk about the financial aspect; it was at this point that the conversation stopped and the dictation began. I was of course asked about my budget, which I put forward and said there is some room for me to go higher (I generally tried to keep it within reason of advertised prices/sales). I was met with a number that told me they either were not listening at all or at the very least had taken my numbers, doubled them, and then as a courtesy taken a few dollars off of the top. This was, to say the least, frustrating; counter offers were equally fruitless. My experience with Mark Van Name at Douglas Volkswagen in Summit, NJ was the polar opposite.

I wanted to preface my review with my experience because this may be what you have felt in your trips to other dealerships, do yourself a favor and avoid more bad experiences, go to Douglas Volkswagen in Summit, NJ.

With frustration mounting I decided to try another dealership that was on my way home from work, Douglas Volkswagen in Summit, NJ. When I walked in that evening I was greeted warmly by Mark Van Name (who would ultimately get my business). We sat down at his desk and he made sure I was comfortable (did I want some coffee or water, ect). We then went into discussing what I was looking for. From the start I could tell that he was listening to me, he intently took notes and asked questions to make sure we were both on the same page. He could plainly see I was very focused on a particular model so most of his additions to this conversation were to inform me of further options within that category or to add helpful, relevant information, NOT to steer me toward a model/options that I did not want. After carefully listening to me he told me that while he did not have the particular color I wanted he did have a model with all of the same features that I could see that moment and should I decide to lease with Douglas it would not be any trouble at all to locate the precise model in the color I wanted and have it transferred.

Then it came time to talk about finances. Mark was very carefully listened to what I was looking for and tried to understand a clear picture of my budget. He then took all of that information and very shortly was able to come back with a price that was right in my budget, I was so satisfied with it I did not have to haggle for pricing. I was glad to accept Mark’s offer.

He further made himself and Douglas stand-out because the follow up was outstanding. He kept me up to date and informed me when my car made it to the dealership and was ready for pick up. He followed up when my plates arrived. He and Douglas proved that that they were less interested in simply getting me to buy a car, they were truly interested in my continued business and overall satisfaction.

I had a fantastic experience at Douglas VW, with Irene guiding me through the process. I got exactly what I was looking for; no hard sell; very professional and helpful. A real change from the usual car-guying experience; And fast! My time was respected start to finish.

My experience at Douglas VW was AWESOME!!My sales person, Irene Peixoto, will be the only person I purchase a Vehicle from. When I came to Douglas last year needing a car I had a recent repo and was nervous and affraid to be rejected. She got me financed with a 2013 Impala without a hitch. So with the pending addtition to my family this july I returned to Douglas needing a larger vehicle without a second thought. Irene had me in a 2014 Dodge Journey before 2pm. Me being pregnant she also feed me .. Love Her and Douglas VW.. wont go to another dealer

I dealt with Nick Malanga and was very happy with my new car experience.

Try are unable to follow up their sales with the proper level of service, I would not purchase or bring a vehicle there for follow up service

Most of the decent individuals who worked at Douglas have left. With the exception of Kim & Dave. If I need to get anything done CORRECTLY, I just reach out to Kim and it is done. The last thing you want is that you take your car to a dealership and worry about then doing a good job. To ad - I now live in North Brunswick and bring my car to Douglas because I know it will be taken care of.



The 5 stars is for the two individuals that I can rely on. If I had an option I would give the dealership and management 3 stars

WARNING!! DO NOT BUY A FROM THIS DEALER

These guys seem to post a lot of fake reviews. I was enticed by their 2014 Labor Day weekend specials on VW Jetta. I was currently leasing a VW Passat and the lease was nearly up, so I decided to take a 3 years lease with Douglas VW and since I was a repeat VW customer I expected the standard trade-in benefits of mileage and wear & tear. Everything was quiet until in late Dec 2014 I received a bill from VW corporate requesting payment for wear & tear & late fees, this was the first time I was alerted to the problem. I reached out to the dealer to inquire about this and was told to basically go pound sand. Then I reached out to VW CustomerCare and was told that the dealer usually takes care of these fees. Next I filed a complaint with bbb.org & sent a copy of my complaint via email to the president Peter Liebman of Douglas VW & I never received an acknowledgement or response. I can only share my negative experience in the hopes that they can't victimize others.
