We were assigned JED through American Home Shield twice. The first time it was to replace a broken sink disposer. JED's rep tried to claim to my wife that we had put something into the disposer that broke it; however, when I got home I could see that wasn't possible. JED's diagnosis meant that AHS wouldn't cover us and we would have to pay JED for the repair (they would undoubted get more from us than AHS). I called JED and complained and after threatening to file a formal complaint another person came out to look at the disposer. This person agreed that it wasn't our fault (20 yr old disposer) and fixed it per the AHS warranty.

When we got them a 2nd time because of a busted water heater we were worried, but gave them the benefit of the doubt since they corrected their employee's either incompetent or unethical behavior. Seems to be institutionalized though. Using AHS as leverage, they charged my wife $750 to attach a flex gas hose (line was already right there) and made a slight adjustment to the copper water line. Outrageous prices. When I found out and called the owner refused to speak with me and the work was already underway. In fact, the workman on-sight tried to get him to speak with me but he refused. That is the nature of this company. Through AHS we can place this company on the "do not use" list for the future and I have. I highly recommend others do the same. There's no excuse for this behavior and there are too many other options out there.

After this experience (unfortunately not before since we were working through AHS) I did some research. The company has many bad reviews, including from the neutral and unbiased Better Business Bureau (bbb.org)... They gave the company an "F" rating. see below link.

JED was assigned through my home warranty company. I reported leaking pipes. The plumber who came the first time to "fix it" was not knowledgeable and tried to say it was condensation from my HVAC. He did replace some parts of a toilet.

When I came home from work the next day, the bathroom in top floor of my three story town house was flooded (ruptured pipes burst) and flowed into ceiling of the second story.

Despite saying they have after hours service, no one answers the phone or returns messages.

I have been fighting with them for three months to repair the damage. They are unresponsive and rude. The "plumbers" are incompetent. Maria, the manager, never returns a call or responds to an email.

I would never, ever use them for anything.

Jed Mechanical Contractors, Inc. was selected by my insurance company. They came out to determine an issue with a leaking faucet in the kitchen. They determined it needed a new faucet. The faucet was covered by my warranty, but they told me I owed more money because the insurance company did not pay them enough. However, when I contacted the insurance company they told me my part was covered and Jed Mechanical had been approved and authorized to replace my faucet. When the insurance company and I tried to resolve the issue with Jed they were unresponsive and became untrustworthy because they lied and said I requested and upgrade to the part. I never requested any such thing and they refuse to substantiate with the insurance company. After over two months of not being resolved the insurance company finally assigned the job to another contractor. I would get a second estimate before using this company.

Horrible! They don’t have any customer service, at all! I called few times to report a problem, the lady that answered the phone was supposed to call me back to let me know the status of the work. Never received a call back, and when I called them back it seemed that they didn’t even know what was going on. The technicians that showed up to my house did not even say what their name was.

A mechanic named Brian came to my condo to look at my hot water heater. He barely spoke to me unless I asked him a direct question. He proceeded to clean the element of the hot water heater. Then left without checking the water or giving me any instruction about what to expect. The hot water gradually started working. That's not the worst part. Wait for it...so the next morning, I go to wash clothes and there's water pouring down from my upstairs down into my kitchen & living room. There's damage to my ceiling & carpet. And when I called, the receptionist, Katie acted like it wasn't their fault. I am dealing with their "sales supervisor" now & still don't know the outcome, but please don't use this service. They are horrible. If your home warranty uses them, demand another company!

I also used JED through the home warranty company and had a great experience. Eddie was great. He was knowledgeable, professional, and friendly. I had a toilet that was not flushing properly. He actually educated me on what the problem was. Luckily when I bought my house, the previous owners has spare parts for the toilet and I had the exact part that needed to be replaced. Then I had water stains on the ceiling of my mud room which is below the bathroom. You can tell that the plumber was experienced he knew right away that the tub tile and spout needed to be re grouted and caulked. I was afraid that my ceiling would have a hole in it just to figure out what was causing the water stains. Luckily I had Eddie that knew what the problem was. I highly recommended using JED and will ask for them again through AHS.

Had them come out for an a pin hole leek. Not only did they want to charge twice as much as the other company who fixed it charged but they told me they did not know how to fix it. Referred through AHS if they refer these guys ask for another company.

I had an extremely poor experience with your company today. The office staff is incredibly unprofessional and lacks any customer service skills. After asking to speak to a manager, I was shocked by some of the comments made by said manager. I asked to speak to the owner and was told that he is not availble to speak to. When asked if he wasn't in today, her response was, "If you called Wal-Mart and asked to speak to the owner, you wouldn't be able to would you? Businesses don't work like that. You can't just call a business and expect to speak with the owner." When asked who was above her, she responded, "the owner". Unbelievable!
